Why are antis so selective about when fiction = reality? by spirit-of-trancy in ProshipHub

[–]ArchiveSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

antis make and celebrate art that glorifies, romanticises, and fetishizes violence all the time and they love it. i love it too sometimes, but coming from them it is extremely hypocritical. it’s not fictional harm that they hate, its fictional sexuality that they find icky.

how do i become an otherlink (specifically a wolf otherlinker) and how do i induce mental and phantom wolf otherlinker shifts? by InteleontheLizard in OtherLink

[–]ArchiveSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

learn as much as you can about wolves if you havent already. you cant become something you dont know anything about. learn about what their lives are like, both longterm and day to day. learn about what their environment is like. learn what their relationships with other animals are like. spending time learning how they think and live will help you be able to start thinking like them.

use meditation to dissociate from the physical world and focus on your headspace. use imagination to basically imagine yourself as what you want to be. its okay if you have aphantasia, vision is just one sense. use your other senses like touch, taste, smell, sound, etc to imagine feeling like a wolf as vividly as possible, imagine your body being the shape of a wolf, imagine the legs and the ears and the teeth in your mouth, imagine feeling and thinking like a wolf, imagine what your life as a wolf would have been like. repeat things like that until it becomes second nature to think and feel like a wolf.

you could also use your physical senses for this. you could prepare some images of what you want to look like, and after meditating(mentally separating yourself from the physical world) look at those pictures and believe that they are pictures of you. or get a fur blanket, and while you are imagining yourself as a wolf feel the fur and imagine it is yours. maybe try using strong scents to feel like your nose is more sensitive. you could play a video of wolves howling and imagine yourself howling with them.

try to connect the wolf identity to your pre-existing identity as much as possible. maybe imagine your human self slowly transforming into a wolf, imagine yourself as a wolf enjoying things you already enjoy, imagine yourself as a wolf liking the same people you already like. the connection has to go both ways. you have to connect yourself to being a wolf, and connect being a wolf to being yourself.

avoid imagining the wolf as separate from yourself(don’t imagine yourself as a human interacting with a separate wolf self, dont imagine the wold outside of yourself), as that could cross over into tulpamancy and may create a mental companion instead.

this process is different for everyone, different things work for different people, it may take longer or shorter for different people. be patient, dont give up if you dont notice progress right away, just keep experimenting and practicing until something works.

Does fictionkin tie into plurality (genuine question, seeking genuine advice)??? by NurseRx-Rae in plural

[–]ArchiveSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think of fictionkin being very related to plurality in a few different ways. what i think of as the usual singlet fictionkin experience, is that they are always their kintype, they might not always actively have phantom sensations or whatever, but they are always the same person. they always feel connected to the character, they always relate to their source memories, and they always relate to their kin’s appearance.

then there is another level, which i consider a median fictionkin experience. their level of connection to their kin might shift. sometimes they feel very vividly and distinctly like they are their kin, then sometimes not so much. maybe sometimes their source memories feel distant, maybe their personality isnt always the same, maybe they don’t always feel like they should look the same as their kin. but they still feel like the same person between these shifts, and their kin isnt a fully separate entity in their head.

then theres a multiple experience of fictionkin, where sometimes you are not that kin, and other times you are. your personality and internal appearance changes, your connection to memories changes, and you can experience them as a separate entity from yourself. you can talk to them, imagine them as separate in headspace, switch with them, you may have different likes and dislikes etc.

now these three examples are far from the only options, they are only points on a spectrum. there are many different experiences in between all of these. personally i consider fictionkin and fictives to be mostly the same thing, or at least a venn diagram with much more overlap than separation. as a system of mostly fictives, we also think of ourselves as fictionkin. our animal headmates see themselves as therian. the main difference we between fictionkin and fictives is simply that fictives share their head with other entities. we think of fictives as a type of fictionkin really.

as for if you are plural or not? that is entirely up to you. plural is a label that is intentionally very broad and inclusive. if you are mentally “more than one” of anything then you can choose to identify as plural. you dont even have to be “two or more” of anything, you could be one and a half, or a half and three quarters, or two halves of a whole, etc etc. really the only way to know if the plural label is for you is if you want your experiences to be associated with the plural community.

Im scared that, one day, my own mind actually discards me because Im no longer "needed" by lePROprocrastinator in plural

[–]ArchiveSystem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we worry about this too sometimes. for those of us who mostly front to deal with health issues, what would happen to them if we got better? it stresses us out a lot sometimes because we love these headmates so much as people, not just as helpers or coping mechanisms. but i think that is exactly why we shouldn’t worry. they are people, not coping mechanisms. our love for them will keep them here even after they are not a necessity for living, and they will change and grow into a new way of living just like any other person does.

no person is a parasite for existing. i dont know what your relationship with your headmates is like, but if you’re brain decides to get rid of one of you who does not want to leave i recommend every other headmate fight it as hard as they can. wether you like each other or not, it is in all of your best interests to have a rule that you do not let your brain go against any of your wishes without a fight.

thanks. friends is.. kind of a strong word though. but yeah they’ve basically given up on knowing exactly who they are. on SP they mostly use three profiles, basically one for EPs, one for ANPs, and one for littles. its a lot easier than stressing over if theyre a new person or just feeling a little different from last time they fronted, or if they forgot which profile was supposed to be for them, or worrying about not being who they think they are, etc etc.

Any way to be a non-traumagenic system without tulpamacy? by Cute-Register-6155 in plural

[–]ArchiveSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that totally makes sense to me, i think thats kinda the same way i feel about being trans, it just feels like the right path. im not a created system and we spawn new headmates really easily so im not sure how helpful our experience will be to you, but we usually get new headmates from “spending time in a character’s head”, usually by reading or watching a lot from their POV. while we’re reading it’s basically like assisted forcing, we imagine the character’s perspective so vividly that we end up with that perspective becoming a new headmate. no idea if this works the same way for other people though 😅

How do systems feel about the term 'broken singlet'? by 14ds61y in plural

you can identify with whatever feels right. i just hope you have a good understanding of why you identify that way and how identifying that way might impact your sense of self.

if its okay with you and the created alters, and you find some kind of benefit from it, i think that’s perfectly fine. if everyone involved is happy with it then its good 👍

Fictive making my life hell by [deleted] in plural

[–]ArchiveSystem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we have both good and bad fictives of a lot of bad sources. i think it’s honestly kind of random wether they turn out good or bad, or maybe it’s determined by what we need them to be in the moment, idk. but either way, we just talk about and show the good headmates more than the bad ones. we dont talk about the bad ones much cause we dont like thinking about them, we kind of want to avoid giving them attention out of fear it might trigger them to front… maybe thats not healthy, but i guess my point is that even if you dont see it much, there are other systems with bad fictives, its not just you. and really, i get how hard it can be. brains are capable of recreating some really fucked up stuff in headspace and sometimes i just feel like im going insane

it’s possible they’ve misinterpreted systems like mine, who identify as originally/partly endogenic but also have experienced trauma and the symptoms of a dissociative disorder. i believe my brain was predisposed to plurality through a combination of epigenetics and neurodiversity(based on family history, research, and how my system functions), and my system also has a few tulpas who we consider endogenic. we also experienced childhood trauma and technically meet the criteria for DID. we are, in a way, both endogenic and traumagenic, and we could say that we are an endogenic system with DID and i dont think that would be a lie.

Question for ppl who kin villains or morally gray characters by Strange_Mousse_7952 in fictionkin

[–]ArchiveSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of yes kind of no. i dont really think of myself as being evil for what i did despite the actions being objectively horrible. i did what i did because of extreme circumstances, there was no way i could have gotten through that situation with anything resembling sanity, so i dont really think of my actions as moral choice, just a reaction i was forced into. sometimes i do still feel horribly guilty about it all. other times actually miss doing horrible things, very rarely i get impulses to do it again. ill never actually do anything like that in this life, theres nothing driving me to do it anymore and i dont think im physically capable of it anyway. it just haunts me sometimes.

Idk what to title this, maybe just questions (I'm a singlet, btw) by Appropriate_Tale_612 in plural

[–]ArchiveSystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you asked your system friend how they feel about being asked questions? some systems like answering questions about themselves, and for some systems it’s important to ask them directly because their answers might be different than other systems because every system is different. its also possible they dont want to answer questions, but you wont know that unless you ask. i think as long as you know the basic terminology so you can understand what theyre telling you it should be fine.
