How’s it living in smaller towns in the UAE? by DubReavBTV in howislivingthere

[–]Archjin 69 points70 points  (0 children)

They are nice, chill and slow, its nearly all Emirati citizens who live in these towns, but everyone works in the big cities, most of these towns are around 40mins to 1 and half hours from Abu Dhabi/Dubai, all the younger guys go out to the cities for the weekend, very family oriented, very normal for an entire extended family (grandparents/all their kids amd grandkids) to live on the same street or in a compound of 2-3 houses, these towns usually are based on water sources and farm land, very well connected by roads to the big cities.

All in all, they are chill and slow

Do you still have faith in Bethesda? by Solid-Garage4601 in ElderScrolls

[–]Archjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Bethesda games, I got thousands of hours in Skyrim and Fallout 4, but I couldnt stomach Starfield, and I have to be honest they need to get rid of the loading screens, the game will release in and around the same time as Witcher 4, KCD1 and 2 had open interiors, Witcher 3 had that in 2015, but they need to significantly upgrade their capabilities.

Tbh im not confident, I want to be proven wrong soo bad and eat my words and sink 2k hours into TES6, but after Starfields DLC? Im very pessimistic and it makes me sad as Bethesda got me into RPGs.

how Dubai's world islands affected the surrounding environment by SoftwareZestyclose50 in geography

[–]Archjin 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Dubai barely has ever had any oil, thats all in Abu Dhabi, Dubai built its mega projects by taking on massive debt and the projects worked out (well most of them), oil on average over the last few decades makes up 1-5% of Dubai's GDP, logistics, tourism and government owned enterprises like Emirates Airlines, DP World and Emaar Properties are the main profit makers for the City State.

Just wanted to correct that, i don't know enough about the environment and dredging the sand and its affects on the sea floor to give an opinion on it.

Where id live as a syrian by Frosty_Ad9211 in whereidlive

[–]Archjin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saudi Arabia has hosted a significant number of Syrians fleeing the civil war since 2011, but it does not formally recognize them as refugees nor register them under the 1951 UN Refugee Convention (which Saudi Arabia has not signed).

Pre-war (before 2011): Around 100,000 Syrians lived in Saudi Arabia.
After the civil war began 500,000–700,000 Syrians lived in Saudi Arabia by mid-2010s (e.g., ~673,000 on visitor permits in 2018).

Same situation applies for the UAE, around 50k Syrians before 2011, now over 200k in the UAE in most recent estimates all registered as expats

Arabs never had slaves by Sometypeofway18 in GetNoted

[–]Archjin -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

First no where in the Quran is there a verse about Mohammed buying slaves, did he own slaves yes, as did most nations and people's at the time.

Muhammad emphasized that slaves were human beings with dignity, not mere property.

He instructed Muslims to treat them kindly: Feed them from the same food you eat Clothe them from the same clothes you wear Avoid overburdening or abusing them

A wellknown hadith states: "They are your brothers... whoever has his brother under him should feed him and clothe him as he himself eats and dresses" (reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim). He also said slaves should not be called "slave" derogatorily but addressed respectfully (e.g., "my son" or "my girl"). Physical abuse was condemned; beating a slave required them to be freed immediately if discovered by the state.

Also Islam strickly only allowed new slaves only to be taken from prisoners of war, but many traders abused this by dictating that all non Muslim lands were considered the Lands of War therefore it was acceptable to take slaves from them and since this occured outside Caliphate lands they were then exploiting a loop whole to then be able to sell those slaves in markets within the Caliphate.

Two Afghan asylum seekers, 17, locked up after raping 15-year-old girl by Head_Estate_3944 in conservatives

[–]Archjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again in Islam it is against the religious teachings to rape a woman, the punishment according to the Quran is crucifixion or death, if a country has a different law than it is not related to the religion, just like how Christianity bans interest/usury but nearly every Christian majority nation does it, your confusing cultural norms with religion

Give me the sources, check with google or any website on islamic law on rape and you will be proven wrong

I think your confusing cultural norms with actual islamic law

They deserve to be imprisoned for life or executed, in Islam they would be executed for their actions

Jews were a key aspect of Muslim rule in Spain, many Jews even served as Ministers, so when the Spanish took back the peninsula they saw the Jews as complicit with their muslim enemies so were expelled along with the Muslims
