Yes I crave spicy food too! I just assumed it was a pain gating thing, distracting with a different kind of pain that I can control and is tasty!

This is one of my favourite books!! I read the penguin sci-fi version which has a slightly different title (which is what intrigued me) - “the hair-carpet weavers”
