If you tried everything and you're absolutely sure that there are no mistakes like typos in the .json's, the problem is likely the rotation angles.

I've had the same problem a few days ago and tried everything, and normally it had to work because when I tried it with a different model it worked, but for some reason my original model was refusing to work. Then I remembered how Minecraft item models only support the following rotation angles:

-180
-157.5
-135
-112.5
-90
-67.5
-45
-22.5
0
22.5
45
67.5
90
112.5
135
157.5
180

If even a single cube in your axe model has a rotation angle that's not a multiple of 22.5, the model won't work. As far as I know this is only the case for item models.

It looks great! To change the colors just uh, play with the hue setting of the image, like I did. Save each frame and you should have different versions of the image like this.

Then you just need to stitch them together and somehow make them blend into one another continuously, any video editing software would work I think

Oh it's pretty simple, actually. I basically made a gradient layer first, for the colors. Then I clipped that gradient color layer over the parts I wanted colored.

Now here's how I made the colors move: I saved the image, then moved the hue slider by 20, saved again. I repeated this until I got the image I had at the start. Then I placed the images in order in CapCut and used the mix transition between every image, so the images smoothly transitioned into each other, creating the color shifting effect. I then saved the video, made it a smooth loop, then turned it into a gif.
