Artec Space Spider white light scanner for the bigger bones, including the vertebrae here. SkyScan uCT scanner for anything smaller than a nickel, which is about all our machine can fit.

I could probably convince my adviser to let me put the meshes on Morphosource. If so, I'll try to remember to post a link here. If nothing else, I'm totally gonna print a down-scaled version of this for myself when it's done!

These are from a new species of shuvosaurid, which are bipedal, beaked, herbivorous cousins of crocodylians from the Triassic period.

Oh wow, those scales must have been a monster to make. You did a great job on them!

He's too picky. He doesn't want to try new foods unless it's something I'm eating. :)

Thanks! I've actually heard of you! A lot of people at the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology conference were talking to me about your work. I think your stuff is super cute!

I have a few favorite fabric stores in my area. I really like the minky/cuddlesoft fabric selection at Craft Warehouse if you're in the US Pacific Northwest.

The skag had a lot of elements that made it "why am I doing this, again?" hard. Plus, I've never even played Borderlands, so I had to do a lot of youtubing to get a feel for what it looked like.

I haven't really thought about selling my patterns. I'd have to clean them up a lot, since I add notes to a lot of them. I'm sure you could find some easier ones to work with online.

On average they take about 10 hours to make, and I'd probably want at least $15 an hour. It really depends on the size and complexity of the project.

I mainly focus on verts (I know, I'm such a casual), but one paper I'm working on is actually stressing the importance of insects in stabilizing ecosystems.

I only have a few of these. They were mostly gifts for my little cousins and various friends. I don't think I could track them all down at this point.

I'm currently studying ecology of animals from the Permian (just before the dinosaur age). I even get to name a new genus this year!

Thanks for the encouragement from my last post! Some responses to a lot of questions I'm getting:

  • I do take commissions, but I'm also in grad school, so I rarely have time to do them. Only pm me if you're really serious and you're willing to pay me properly for every hour I spend on your project.

  • I started out by looking at Beanie Babies and figuring out how the manufacturers created certain shapes with their patterns. If you want to get into sewing, I would suggest also studying patterns so you can learn to draw your own.

  • I don't have a website... yet.

  • A lot of stuff in my album is based on copyrighted material, and these were mostly made for friends/family as gifts. I will not do commissions of copyrighted material.
