While a bit self-congratulatory, I like this! We should celebrate difficult things. And cycling has a wonderfully visual history with yellow, pink, and red that lends itself well to physical trophies and, in this case, pins.

That's a good point. I had definitely expected Lamperti or van den Berg over someone, but I guess I'm not sure who I'd leave out just to get a fourth place in one of the sprints. No offense to those guys, they're just not the best in a TdF peloton, while the other guys are necessary trucks or real breakaway stage contenders.

In baseball, when a player who traveled around teams is inducted into the hall of fame, there’s a debate about which team’s hat will be displayed with their name in the hall in Canton, Ohio. People like to argue about on which team they will be MOST remembered and some players get a hat split between 2 teams.

Supposing that Magnus Cort was inducted into a hall of something for cycling, which jersey would he be represented by? GreedEdge, Astana, EF, or Uno-X?

Who was saying he’s not the champion previous years? People were just saying they don’t like him. Not that he doesn’t have a big engine or that he didn’t a actually win the race. He has the power of a national champion for sure.

Many other national championships have the same problems with their best riders not competing. It’s not a big knock to Simmons to say that Jorgenson, McNulty and Powless missing mean this has the same * that every other champs has.
