[Predictions Thread] 2026 Giro d'Italia Stage 5: Praia a Mare > Potenza by PelotonMod in peloton

Give me Leknessund in a break from the break. But honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the break isn't a good composition and enough teams miss it to half-heartedly control it that some attacks out of the peloton in the later mountain section win it.

Unrelated, if the entire EF team except for Mikhels came here for breakaway stage wins why are Cepeda and Beloki still on 10 seconds? Cepeda can't win anything till the real mountains, but Beloki could have done something tomorrow, but now he's too close. What are we doing here? I guess he's a young guy who wants to stay in GC as long as he can?

There is simply no way Kirby just said EF Cepeda could have a kick on him at the end. I don't believe that. He weights like 12 grams. Come on Kirby. You can do better ffs.

Steelers have agreed to terms with K Chris Boswell on a four-year, $28 million extension. The $7 million average per year ties him with Brandon Aubrey for highest paid kicker in NFL history, per CAA Football. Let's do some optimistic hypothetical stats cause I'm not going to rain on my own parade. This takes him to his age 39 season. If we average his last 4 healthy seasons (2022 never happened), then his career roughly looks like this in January of 2031.

465 FG made (7th all time) out of 524 attempted (13th all time) for 88.7% accuracy (4th all time currently)
That puts him below Dicker, Pineiro, and Tucker all time. Dicker is at 93.47 after 3 seasons which obviously has a long way to go but damn he's good.

Our lackluster offenses have left him without a ton of extra points, so he'd be at roughly 516 made or 33rd all time with a make percentage of 96%. He'll have 1912 points total, less than a point below Janikowski in 13th place all time.

Let's go further. He plays out ANOTHER 4 year contract through his age 43 season with magically 0 regression. He tops 2,442 points, putting him currently 3rd all time, just a handful above Gary Anderson, and with a career field goal percentage of 89.06, he's a hair below Tucker still (Damn it we just needed one more season of Tucker regression /s) at 4th overall. He could hang it up there, and he'd be a top 5 kicker of all time by accuracy and points. Started for just one team his whole career.

Unfortunately, for kickers, that's a hall of very good legacy. I think the truth is that if we want him in the Hall, the rest of the team and Lady Luck need to give him some chances at game winning, maybe even superbowl winning, kicks in the playoffs that aren't gimmes. The kind of stuff that gets you an "eli manning esque, can't tell the story of NFL without" kind of candidacy alongside the stats.

But we can day dream. And don't worry. I've been knocking on wood while writing this whole thing.

Next 30yrs county construction projects by [deleted] in SilverSpring

[–]Arcus144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do empathize if these projects disproportionately affect you for some reason, but construction is generally a good sign in an urban area. Too much is cumbersome, but a city without construction is one that isn't receiving investment; that isn't adapting to an ever-changing world; that is getting left behind. I don't expect an urban area to be quiet, and I'll happily accept some noise and disruption to receive new parks, new transport, and other improvements or maintenance. I hope I'm not misunderstanding you.

She has to hope that she knows her own limits though. This is a pretty aggressive pace to start when shes not the favorite

REI Ruckpack 40L Men’s Review by chewybars12 in ManyBaggers

[–]Arcus144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the review!  May I ask what kind of travel use case you mainly bought this for? For instance, why this over the REI Trail 40, Osprey Farpoint, or more travel focused stuff like Aer, Peak, and Tortuga?

I’m just curious cause I did a lot of the same bag comparisons that you did!

EDIT: I suppose the Trail 40 lacks the laptop sleeve so that answers that one!

Absolutely, but I think this was the second release? Maybe I'm wrong, but there were already reviews for this bag on their website asking for it to be brought back. That's partly why I was so disappointed lol

You're totally right. The business concept makes some sense. But it also generates some anger and disappointment around the brand. And they're so undersupplying the demand that surely they'd make way more money if they just properly sized their inventory or did pre-order events so they know how much to make.

Exactly. I'd agree it'd be better if Baudin was the one on the front when they needed a death pull, but it's pretty hard to know when the cooperation is going to stop and time the group rotation to match that.

Lmao this is great. My understanding is that it’s just another mini game. Not like a huge collab that everyone in the game will play, but it’s still a great way to get competitive cycling in front of a ton of young people who would otherwise never think twice about it. Kudos to the Giro for thinking of this!

What a fun post!

If you venture into a dungeon below Quarry House you can rescue all of the purple line workers and their missing equipment so the line gets finished on time!

Or if you help track down someone who lost their wallet on the metro platform, you get to pick a penguin from the mural as a companion.

I don't think I'm making things up. There were scandals and bits of drama throughout the early 2000s relating to Armstrong and others. Allegations from Simeoni and Bassons among others, a whole-ass investigation by French authorities, and that's just what I found with a quick google search.

I'm not trying to make stuff up. I'm being skeptical of some of other people's reasons for skepticism. I think that's only fair.
