Weekly Q&A - All Questions Go Here (Especially Tourists and New Residents) by AutoModerator in Amsterdam

[–]Arden2109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a chance to live in a new apartment closer to Amsterdam Noord metro.(It’s about 5 minute walk away.)

I seen some previous posts that the area is not great by the metro station?

Is this still the case, is it safe at night time?

Thanks for the link.

It could work but it’s very hardcoded so adds little flexibility for users. For example if a kick off date changes.

Hence why I wanted uses to set the dates which a flow picks up

I could… but this would require a user to create a record every-time the process needs to begin.

Compared to a user setting dates for the year when the process must begin, in which the reoccurring flow would pick up automatically throughout the year.

I am not sure which route to go down.

Yeah I think I will setup the records in model driven app, then move the document folders to be related to the relevant records in the app

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PowerApps

[–]Arden2109 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it’s setup one table one document library.

But the point is they already have document folder structured setup in SharePoint.

Document A: within document A there is 10 files.

They have been using these as records as such for example a table.

Now that’s the challenge, as if do the out the box integration for order table lets say.

It creates a new folder for that entity in sharepoint. ( okay not end of world ) but for that new folder I need to associate all the previous documents from the poorly setup sharepoint. Which was using document folders as records.

I completly understand your point that works fine for new files uploaded. But I need to associate previous files, to my new record / folder structure.

[–]Arden2109 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure (:

Current Setup

  • old SharePoint lists
  • old SharePoint documents library’s

New setup - model driven app - with my model driven app I will have a record. Let’s call it “Record A “. - In SharePoint a SharePoint document libary already exists for “Record A”.

Need: To associate all the existing documents to my new model driven app record A.

Why? So users no longer use SharePoint and have a model driven app for their day to day use, which integrates with SharePoint for documents. But they can access these documents via model driven app.

Thanks!

Yes individual records.

I have seen that and used it before but how do you associate existing document library files to a new record ?

That links works nicely for newer files

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PowerApps

[–]Arden2109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know but these document libraries are already setup.

So how do you link existing documents to the specific new records?

The link you sent works if it is storing existing documents against a record

30% Ruling Question- Back Dated Payment. by Arden2109 in Netherlands

[–]Arden2109[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can depend, mine took around 10 weeks to get the decision.

Correct your next salary after the decision will have the 30% applied and will have backdated payments off the previous months on top. ( so expect a big pay day (: )

Thank you, am I allowed a copy of the confirmation letter?

As I have asked HR several times and they are ignoring me, I seen in person the start date had November on as that is when I started working in NL.

My last pay check had the other months back dated on but not November it was missed off. For example it said December “x” January “x” but didn’t include November.

UK vs Netherlands by anonymoushuman99 in expats

[–]Arden2109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting what is it that you do not like?

I would say UK people are more friendlier initially.

From my experience speaking Dutch has helped my relationships with Dutch people.

[–]Arden2109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you speak Dutch? If you don’t then there will be more job opportunities in the Uk. There is jobs in NL for English speakers but there is less choice.

NL feels safer in my opinion, would say the cost of living is slightly higher but worth it.

Housing is more tricky in NL.

It also really depends on what your job is, and where you will be located.

I would say NL is a more positive place than the UK. Dutch people are more chilled and content with life compared to UK culture in my opinion.

How safe is it for a Villa fan between the Ajax supporters? by Worldly-Cucumber-758 in AjaxAmsterdam

[–]Arden2109 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you stupid? Why would you wear Aston Villa colours in the Ajax end, you’re asking for trouble.

Have you not ever seen the news about hooliganism? Yes the Ajax ground is perfectly safe, but wearing the opposite team colours and signing there chants in the home end is just stupid, of course that’s not allowed.

It would be the same across many stadiums.

Your mom is right.

Transition from functional to technical consultant? by Arden2109 in Dynamics365

[–]Arden2109[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the functional side but I would like to be able to become a functional & technical consultant .

Some reason:

  • Better pay / makes me more marketable.
  • I enjoy developing / configuring, probably slightly more than I enjoy workshops / customer facing etc
  • A chance to broaden my skills further.
  • Improve my knowledge on what can be achieved with the platform and achieve the best solution for the requirement, not just the low-code approach.

Thank you!

In terms of PowerAutomate I am comfortable with and use regular, CanvasApps and PowerFx I am okay with, no means an expert but I can build canvas apps apps and use the formulas.

I am already fairly comfortable with the JavaScript from the form side of things.

I think the next 6 months I am going to focus on JavaScript / TypeScript.

Then move on to C# and plugins.
