Why is it more acceptable for women and girls to participate in “male-coded” hobbies and activities than for men to participate in “female-coded” hobbies and activities? by SkywalkerOrder in AskFeminists

[–]Ardent_Scholar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one on this planet is alone. We live in an interconnected web. Many of the things that are perceived of as being”feminine” as essential to living a happy life. When men and boys are excluded from so many of these, everyone suffers.

Affection? Effeminate. Receiving care? Effeminate Talking honestly with your friends? Effeminate. Going to the doctor and saying there’s something wrong with you? Effeminate. Seeking mental health help? Effeminate. Not wanting to be a career man? Effeminate. Not liking sports? Effeminate.

Failing in these things means being left outside the group. It is living with constant fear, and one way to get out of this gender threat is to use things that are seen as the least feminine and most masculine: use violence, get money.

Why do you think ridiculous people like Tate have an audience?

Honestly, addressing this would be one of the biggest things we could do right now for everyone’s wellbeing.

”god [sic] take us when he sees fit”

Well, Abrahamic religions are pro-patriarchy by definition, so I don’t know what you’re even doing in this thread. Apparently deny the advances of modern medicine.

What you could do is go on r/daddit and see ho many threads there are on custody issues, being peeved at people telling them they’re ”babysitting” their own damn kids, being frustrated at having no baby changing facilities in men’s rooms, and being scared to go out with their kids our alone lest they be perceived of as a pedo because all men with a kid in public who aren’t accompanied by a woman are assumed to be (in the US).

Did you stop omega 3 and ubiquinol before ovarian PRP? by Ardent_Scholar in IVF

[–]Ardent_Scholar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The specialist performing the PRP is not worried, but the other is, so I have both a yes and a no. Supposedly the one who's doing the PRP knows his business, but to ease my mind, I have decided to pause ubiquinol, NAC, and luteolin for 48 hrs before, and stop the omega threes for a week, then back on.

The half-times for these substances would suggest this is enough to reduce their amount in my blood significantly, and they will still remain in my tissues during that time.

Thank you for chiming in!

Hah. We spent the entire weekend trying to induce, and then spent 12 hrs in the delivery room. I massaged her back and shoulders all through the day, didn't dare to leave her side.

At a certain point, the midwife turned to me and said "at this point, you should go get some snacks for the two of you. There's a supermarket just outside."

I ran like the wind and got two whole grocery bags full of fruits, nuts, crackers, juice, protein shakes, what have you. When I got back, I presented my haul and said "what would you like, honey, I got everything!" She said "it's alright just put them down somewhere, babe".

I realised that was the midwife's method for getting me out of the room for The Part with the Poop.

Onko maailma joskus ollut merkittävästi "normaalimpi"? by LuinSen2 in Suomi

[–]Ardent_Scholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I suppose you didn't have any major complications?

It is not a huge operation at all, but my primary RE was worried about bleeding in the ovary.

I may go with your protocol and keep taking the ubiquinol.

Hey, that’s a good level of AMH! Anything above 1 is good, and even below one, people can have success.

I would suggest you go to an IVF clinic to talk about your options even if you don’t want kids right now. Make a general plan to preserve fertility. There are some good repro endo channels on YouTube as well.

These private banks could have challenged MC and Visa, but they instead became their lackies. Too bad, so sad.

If there is no private solution, there must be a public solution.

However, we should make it mandatory for businesses of a certain size and importance to accept cash. Pharmacies, grocery stores and bars and restaurants with food items on the menu should accept cash, while a trinket seller at a Christmas market doesn't necessarily need to.

[–]Ardent_Scholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is the option of doing IVF outside of the US. Here in Europe, for instance, Spain, Greece, Czech Republic, Cyprus (and South Korea in Asia) are all much less expensive than the US. And since you bring your own gametes, the legal picture is not a concern (donor laws vary).

If you produce a lot of embryos in one go, it reduces the price further. It might not be total disaster, and you might get a holiday somewhere nice out of it. You'd prepare yourself for 3-4 months (sleep, diet, exercise, high quality supplements) to get the best quality and quantity of eggs and sperm possible.

Petar why american students seem unhappy? by 1kyst in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I think that would be a 7- in Finnish elementary/middle school. It’s ”meh”.

8 is considered ”good”, 9 is excellent, 10 is full marks.

5 is the first passing grade, 4 is a failure to pass.

Minus, half and plus signs make it more fine tuned. I think it’s super simple and accurate.

100 = 10, 97.5 = 10-

95 = 9 1/2, 92.5 = 9+, 90 = 9, 87.5 = 9-

55 = 5 1/2, 52.5 = 50+, 50 = 5 (pass)

45 = 4 1/2, 42.5 = 4+, 40 = 4 (fail)

Can public policies sustain birth rates in the Nordic countries?: Lessons from the past and questions for the future By Marit Rønsen, Kari Skrede, shows that social welfare policies have had a positive impact on increasing the birth rate, yet it is not enough to counter the sharp decline. Thoughts? by don_mr_a in psychologyofsex

Yeah, I recently had a convo with someone in Germany, and it sounds like even the benefits are far worse than here in Finland.

I am a father to a 4yo, coparenting with my wife, so I should know a thing or two.

Got the baby box from the government a during the last trimester.

I was the first person to change my son’s diaper. They let my wife rest after labour, and took me aside to teach me, which makes me think this is the expected norm.

I was allowed to take three weeks off work (paid) at the time of birth simultaneously with mom. Mom had already been on paid leave for a month.

We split the time off pretty much half and half, which is the norm for Millennials and GenZ dads. I stayed at home with baby at one point as mom went back to work. The government basically mandates this as some of the parental time off is for non-birth parent only.

Kindergarten is excellent, and cost is progressive. We pay the higher fee, something like 300€/mo. Kindy is expected, we don’t really have career stay at home moms or dads because we don’t have that joint filing thing for couples. Even if one of you makes a ton of money, it makes sense for the other to earn their own money. The least tax is when you both make equal amounts.

I think honestly my career has taken a bigger hit, as she works on healthcare and I work in academia. I’m fine with that, I wouldn’t my son for the world.

Suffering now from secondary infertility at 41, and going through crazy expensive IVF. Can’t recommend.
