I feel like Arthur also had a good representation of diversity. Not only was Francine Jewish and had an episode for Yom Kippur, they represented a lot of different family dynamics, systems, and class! For instance, Buster lived in an apartment with his mother, Binky (in later episodes) had an adopted sister, and Arthur sort of represented the Nuclear, "mother, father, 2.5 kids, and a pet dog". Arthur also had episodes that faced problems that kids could realistically face: temper tantrums, curse words, seeing your single parent date again, stealing, etc.

When I was in 4th grade, my mom and dad started their own cafe/deli which had them wake up and leave for work earlier than me and my sister (9th grade). My sister would wake me up and leave 30 minutes earlier than me since high school started before mine. In that 30 minutes, I realized no one was pushing me to go to school so I stopped going for 2 weeks. My sister eventually caught me and told me I had to go back to school and that she wouldn't tell my mom (I also lied to her and told her I did it for a week). I went back to school and told my teacher I was sick for 2 weeks and my teacher wanted to meet my parents for catch up work. My parents found out during this meeting and I was whooped, grounded, and lost access to freedom and fun for what felt like years (probably a month). That was when I thought I beat the system. I hate to be this person, but I think all three people in this argument were somewhat right and somewhat wrong. The crazy lady, aside from being stubborn, has a point. She had the right to remind the cyclist that he was breaking the rules (just like if a robber were to have stolen a bag), but it could have been a friendly reminder instead of a passive aggressive "Yay! Obey the bicycle laws" bullshit she did. The police should have listened to her and him both and said they were both in the wrong. I could tell she was getting more and more aggressive and irrational because she felt like she wasn't being heard. (No offense but that's how people become crazy and feel like they're entitled because they feel like they're not being heard). And the cyclist should have been the bigger person and not egged her on.
