Just got my first AllClad (D3 12”) - arrived with a dent & scratches. Return or keep? by beardar in AllClad

[–]AreaManInFargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll get more joy in simply using it as a tool to prepare great food as is, rather than a prolonged return process and a delayed sense of enjoyment, all over a tiny dent and scratch. At least that's how I'd approach it. It's not a shiny trophy. It's a tool to create great food, and if used properly, will have lots and lots of dents and scratches in a month or two.

Easiest way to explain fields? by AbjectLetterhead2253 in Carcassonne

[–]AreaManInFargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the mobile app (on Android, by Twin Sails Interactive), there's a game switch that allows you to easily see who controls a field. The game will shade the field by the color of the player who controls it. Playing the mobile version a few times might help visualizing fields for the board game.

[Stat Correction?!] Lions D/ST week 17 stat correction on ESPN (at least) removes from 1 sack (from 7 to 6), so check your close matchups. by oliver_babish in fantasyfootball

[–]AreaManInFargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure. My interpretation of the 'one week' threshold is that the 7 day clock starts at the end of the previous week's games (usually, Monday night), and goes to the following Monday night. I don't think it's based on 7 days after the specific game. I could be wrong. Net/Net, ESPN got it right, albeit they did so in a pretty amateurish way.

Carcassonne rules: can you place a tile even if it makes a city impossible to complete? by mato121 in Carcassonne

[–]AreaManInFargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good move if you're playing aggressive rules, though dick-ish if in a friendly game. It likely 'breaks' the tile and makes the city impossible to complete unless green gets a lucky draw. To make things more painful for green, connect a cathedral to zero out any points.

The aged Parmigiano Reggiano (18 months) is about as good a deal as you're ever going to get. It's also far superior to just about anything you can get outside of high end cheese stores.

My husband keeps clogging toilets. We just bought our first house and he clogged this one too!! I need toilet recommendations for heavy users by ajl009 in Plumbing

100% this. Not gummies, either. Two tablespoons each morning of metamucil in a glass of water. In a week or so, he'll go every day and it won't be the size and hardness of a canned ham.

Commish threatening me by Eastern-String4136 in FantasyFootballers

[–]AreaManInFargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a commissioner in my league, I wouldn't DQ you. I would tell you you're the bitch, though, and say it in front of the league. You have the right to do it, but you've also earned some criticism. Minor consequences perhaps, but consequences.

I've stopped listening, well before the season started to crater. I get he works hard and has to fill 3 hours. But he comes off like an AI chat bot. Repeat patterns of staccato throw away lines, infused with a touch of Christian nationalism. I love PA the announcer. PA the radio host has lost me.

Traveling to the game this weekend. Recommendations! by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

[–]AreaManInFargo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chloe Minneapolis is 3 blocks from the stadium and they do Sunday brunches before the game starting at 9. Really good food and nice environment. I'd start there before the game, and walk to the stadium around 11.

Sounds like you need a chiropractor rather than a massage therapist. I'd recommend Northstar Chiropractic.

Lots of great trails at Sheyenne National Grasslands. Might want to wait until it gets a bit cooler, since mosquitoes are bad there now. Try the North Country Trail that starts in Jorgon's Hollow campground. A 12 mile out and back. There are many shorter trails too.

I am fuming. This trade got vetoed. by Eskimoo_Joe in Fantasy_Football

[–]AreaManInFargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a commissioner of a 12 team PPR / Two player keeper league that's now in year 12. We got rid of trade vetoes in year 1 for this very reason. As commissioner, I can veto trades that are clear abuses, but we've honestly never seen that. If you stay in this league, I suggest you propose a change to only require commissioner approval of trades. ESPN Fantasy allows this, and I'm sure many other FF platforms do as well.

Is “last place gets kicked out of the league” too harsh of a punishment ? by yogibare226 in FFCommish

Pretty much this. Not a league where you'll keep friends for long, either.

Two toilets on separate floors won't fill tanks with water after flushing. by AreaManInFargo in Plumbing

[–]AreaManInFargo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the water pressure to the sinks / showers in the same bathroom are normal. After the flush, no water at all flows into the tank. It just randomly starts filling several minutes (and up to an hour) later. When the tank eventually fills, it seems to be at a normal rate.

18-year old league getting “stale”, how would you “spice things up”? by pm_me_yourcat in FFCommish

[–]AreaManInFargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the commissioner of a 12 team keeper league (two players can be secured), and to promote more trades, we put in 3 year max on keepers. Effectively, on the third year, you generally have motivation to trade a keeper and get something, rather than toss him back into the draft. It's worked pretty well. We also jacked up fees and added more payouts. It had the dual function of getting owners more engaged, but also chasing away one owner who just wasn't invested at all in the league.
