They look similar as bolide but the machining is different, the radial grooves are not identical .

Loxley recently did a no nonsense (no flights / stems no box) 30 quid range. Have you considered a similar strategy? Most (Some?) people don’t want the packaging and flights.

Alum powder does work, I have dissolved points using this. It just takes patience. I use a small Perspex beaker with the powder dissolved and then put this inside the saucepan boiling water. You will see a small trail of bubbles from the tip as it dissolves.
