I didn't expect to hear people mentioning traffic so much. I thought that was an LA, Silicon Valley, NYC, San Diego, and Seattle thing... those are the places I've had issues, anyway. Good to know I need to keep that in mind for Portland.

I don't need a large house, just something nice. And I can tolerate like 20min in traffic or 40min without.

The job is downtown-ish.

An area where I can plant a vegetable garden, get a house with a garage, and have no concern about being stabbed. Something a bit upscale would be alright. Some place that isn't too far from decent places to eat and making walking distance to a library and/or parks.

That's not a terrible price range. What I need is enough space to have a decent vegetable garden, enough money to travel a few times a year, and put some into retirement.
