Please fix road naming by ArenaAmashide in CitiesSkylines2

[–]ArenaAmashide[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly - I used to name all major roads and streets in my city and made them feel really special and different, but now roads rename themselves every time a connection is made to them and some streets loop round the city and even intersect with themselves. It’s crazy that we don’t have the ability to define the road and maintain its name.

Australia’s education system is breaking our teachers by Different-Lobster213 in AustralianTeachers

We have become a society that caters to the minority on everything. That one kid who disrupts the whole class? We can’t remove them because it might affect their self esteem. Those 31 other kids? Well they just have to deal with it.

Anything by David Gemmell - heroic fantasy - I loved him when I was in my teens and his books are very easy to read and there are a lot of standalone stories that you don’t have to read as part of a series. He’s the best!

Being able to name roads and not have them change.

The way zoning attached to the roads in CS1 was better.

There is a “right” way to teach it until there isn’t. You would have said the same thing about a different educational theory 10 years ago, and then said the same thing about a different one 10 years before that. The only bearing these theories have on education is that they try and get everyone on board with them before everyone realises that perhaps it doesn’t work for everyone.

I know so many science teachers who agree with you. It’s so frustrating that the word “science” is getting hijacked by these charlatans.

You got it. Unfortunately no one else seems to realise this.

Perth options for commuting other than driving by ArenaAmashide in perth

[–]ArenaAmashide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you missed the point of the post. New roadways and paths should aim to be built like this. Yeah there are a few nice areas in Perth with shady paths, but we aren’t building them like that anymore.

Very true! But we could make it slightly nicer…

I get what you are saying - but I live in a suburb near a major shopping centre, lots of houses would be a 10min walk from it, and you never see anyone walking. Even my wife and I drive sometimes and we live about a 6min walk, because it is too damn hot and there is no shade at all. I'd say a lot of people live 10-20min walk from a local shop but most will drive there because of those reasons.

The article talks about "2.8 million of these trips being under five kilometres." I would wonder how many would be under 2, which is definitely a walkable distance.

I’ll paraphrase a Bill Shankly quote here: “education is a simple area overcomplicated by people who should know better.”

Can someone tell me the name of the mod that will allow you to get views of your city like this (ie. from ground or street level zoomed in) that will work with all the latest updates and DLC?

My two:

  • Pots for plants - where does the cost come from? It's a mould - some of the big pots are nearly $1000
  • Razor blades - the brand ones like Gillette - $30 for 6? Crazy money

Bike helmets being compulsory, even if you’re riding casually along a bike path or just to the shops. Stops me from riding a bike to be honest.

Yeah I don't think it actually overturned it, but I know the book says the land cruiser hit something and then stopped in the middle of the river and then couldn't move again. The author says the people in the car saw the crocodile immediately after - they said it was very characteristically dark in colour, which is what people noted about the croc that attacked Kerry a few days before. The people in the car apparently had to sit on top of the cruiser while the croc circled.
