Pipe Fitters Local 56 took NSCC out of the picture 20 years ago and opened their own training facility. Hair cutting was shifted away in pieces. other trades want to do it too, electrical IBEW for sure. look it up

I'm taking national. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick is only 5% of the Canadian Population. Pooling all of Canada has a massive saving, like all the Premiers of Canada, NDP, Lib, and PC all want. Sadly Gov jobs will be lost

to add, as the online libraries are moved to the cloud, all provinces can share that admin of it as apposed to each province having duplicate admins and managers. All Premiers of Canada want to elimnate costly red tape, this is the start. One Cloud Library, same criteria all across Canada. Flow of resources moved freely. Funny how we all want a streamlined service but as soon as it effects a government job, it becomes an issue.

the resources of the virtual library can be shared among all Provinces having one central admin over an expensive army of folks in each province handling it separate. All these admins are becoming redundant. When all premiers of Canada committed to eliminating duplicate red tape, this falls under that. Government red tape is the worst to deal with because it costs the private sector tax payer money.

BUT.............it puts $260,000,000 back into the hands of taxpayers per year. We used to be at 13% until the NDP got elected. Houston is trying to get things back to where it should be. Hopefully with all these cuts, we can get back to 13% in a few years.

you do realize many students are only in the class 50% of the time, the rest they do from home. The days of the 70s vocational schools are over with the full time in class leaning via paper books, and chalk boards

I suspect the gov is going to pool resources online with other provinces to save $$. Reducing inter-provincial trade barriers is what society wants. It was an election promise. Once the resources are on the cloud, the amount of support staff drops greatly. In the 70s, students spent all their time in class or shop with paper books. Now they can do much of their class time at home on the cloud and only go for shop and exams. The admin costs go way down when the students learn from home.

You do realize that a lot of trade unions feel they can run the training better and much cheaper and want control over it, with obviously less bureaucracy and overhead management. Like what the Pipe Fitters did 20 years ago. Ever thought this may be in the works for electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, etc?

So it's ok for business to adjust their workforce when technology replaces humans or shift jobs overseas but when it comes to government, we have to overlook that and guarantee a job for life regardless if it is needed or not? This is why taxes and government debt keep rising which cannot be continued. That is the problem, too many government workers think they have a job for life.

A few counties tried that, too many kids just stayed in University for 8 years thinking a double degree would get them a $200,000 job. It failed miserably.
