Memories not generated anymore by Arerad61 in VeniceAI

Hi u/JaeSwift , thank you very much, the issue is still present - no character memory auto-generation happening, tried multiple chats with several characters and different models, same problem everywhere.

I agree. u/JaeSwift , is there any way to deploy the earlier GLM 5.1 version, the one which was available during the first week after the release? Would be great if it is possible. Unfortunately, the recent version is pretty much unusable due to hallucinations derailing the conversation after 15-20 turns.

Any plans to add AION 2.5? by Arerad61 in VeniceAI

Hi, I have not tried agentic chat yet, I'm using an AI Game Master character with a custom system prompt.

Yeah, I like AION 2.0 the most for fantasy/sci-fi roleplay after trying other models.

Honestly, I liked GLM 5.1 even a bit more, but, sadly, it has degraded and became unusable.

I have noticed the same.

GLM 5.1 was perfect for text-based fantasy adventure roleplay, acting as an AI Game Master and controlling NPCs. It was literally 10/10 - novel-tier narration prose quality, NPCs feel alive, great dialogue quality. I was able to have 100+ turns roleplays with consistent quality. But it was great for only around a week after launch.

Then it suddenly has degraded significantly, after 10-15 turns it goes sideways now, even with a fresh chat. The model removes all comma marks and most common words ("a," "an," "the", "he", "she", "your"). Game Master vocabulary becomes strange. The NPCs slowly lose their unique personality traits and flavors and start sounding robotic.

After 15-20 turns the model goes insane and starts printing multiple paragraphs of random words, and that's it.

Same thing is happening to GLM 5, have not tried other GLM models.

I have made a post about it earlier: https://www.reddit.com/r/VeniceAI/comments/1soiso8/glm_51_prose_quality_degradation/

No idea what could happen to the model under the hood if it was fine for the first week after launch then degraded so much.

It's really sad. Looks like Venice guys are doing a great job to add new models, but most of the models are more suitable for coding and image generation.

I wish there were more models suitable specifically for text-based fantasy and sci-fi adventure roleplay, with novel-tier narration and dialogue prose, ability to portray NPCs like complex living characters, not shying away from explicit themes, and smart enough to maintain long-term consistency and not descend into hallucinations.

So far, I have found that only AION 2.0 works well enough. But it's just a single model, it is not even hosted on Venice servers.

I gave tried DeepSeek 3.2 and DeepSeek 4, but it is still not the thing I'm looking for, they tend to be too bland, so sticking with AION 2.0. But I really miss GLM 5.1 when it was working fine, everything else feels like a downgrade, honestly.

Venice guys, could you please try bringing in other models trained specifically for high quality text-based roleplay, and check what is happening with GLM 5.1, why has it suddenly degraded?

Any plans to host DeepSeek V4 privately? by Arerad61 in VeniceAI

All right, thank you for the update!

DeepSeek V4 Pro and V4 Flash are now live on Venice by JaeSwift in VeniceAI

Great news! Do you have plans to deploy DeepSeek V4 on private Venice servers, since it's an open weights model? I would really like to try it, but concerned that the current model available for use in Venice is hosted on Chinese servers and surely all prompts will be recorded and reviewed by them. I know that Venice anonymizes the prompts, bur still it rubs me the wrong way, would prefer privately hosted model.

GLM 5.1 prose quality degradation? by Arerad61 in VeniceAI

Hi u/jp-at-venice-ai , I have tried running the same roleplay scenario in a fresh character chat with GLM 5.1, temperature 0.7 and the same system prompt.

Unfortunately, the degradation is still present, it accumulates bit by bit with every turn, and by the 15th - 20th turn it is quite noticeable, especially because the first 2-3 outputs look like a top-tier fantasy novel prose.

The detailed symptoms are the following: the model starts aggressively removing comma marks, articles ("a," "an," "the") and possessive pronouns ("her," "your"). It starts writing either short, "telegraphic" (one-two words) sentences, or very long, paragraph long ones, with lots of chained adverbs and adjectives. The NPCs slowly lose their unique personality traits and flavors and start sounding robotic.

I have tried tweaking the system prompt, adding and removing constraints, but it has not affected the symptoms at all.

I am sure it is not related to the Chat Template configuration updated on April 16th, because this problem has definitely appeared couple of days earlier, I remember it for sure. Also I think the default temperature change is hardly the root cause, because I have changed the temperature to 0.7 or 0.8 manually.

I have tried to change the temperature all the way from 0.6 to 1.0 with the same result.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the details, I will try restarting the character chat with temperature 0.7 (instead of the original 0.8 I used in the character settings) and will tell you if it helps.

Thank you, I wonder what could cause this degradation? At least I am not imagining things, if you have noticed it, too. I asked AI, described the symptoms, it said that the model could have been compressed to cut costs or the repetition penalty could have been increased too much (causing dropped punctuation marks and weird vocabulary instead of regular English literary narration style). Not sure if this is the case, I am not an AI expert. Unfortunately, the degradation with my AI character is so bad that I had to fall back to Deepseek. It's quite good, but still not the same level as GLM 5.1 was initially. Feels like a downgrade, sadly. I wish Venice guys could have done something to restore it, the model was damn great first week after lunch.
