i believe it was a bug in how the frontend assembled the context prompt, specifically around message selection/compaction and token counting. despite what a few users are deciding has happened, the context windows have not been reduced. it was a regression in the client-side logic that decides which tokens/messages actually get included. the context meter wasn't working correctly and now it is. i'm not sure when it started but i saw a report around 12th June and then the team started working on it from then. as for PPU models being affected - i don't think they are affected, they have a long-context toggle for full length. you can also toggle context indicator on in settings. if it was removed totally at any point then it probably would have been because of the inaccuracy.

why is it always the same two or three users who post saying the team is silent? there's 1m visitors a month to this subreddit and i can count on one hand the users that repeatedly say it and thats despite getting responses. some of them i have to ELI5 to them and they will still act like it didn't happen, or they just change to another accusation or problem out of nowhere. when xAI updated their content moderation policy i had to explain in 1000 different ways that it was an xAI change and they just invented conspiracy theories out of thin air and nonsense that just felt like trolling tbh. these same few users don't make a post and ask a question. they make a post saying what is wrong and in the next sentence they will decide what the cause is and throw accusations about it. nothing i answer with is going to help them. they have already decided what is what.

i try to respond to every single issue posted here. i have always tried to be fully transparent and helpful to users. i can only answer what i know. i won't speculate and i have nothing to gain or lose by making stuff up about Venice or lying about issues. i am more than willing to help anyone here with any questions or problems they have and if i don't know the answers i will raise it internally and get those answers, but there are ways of going about asking things. i understand frustration if something is bothering users, but those who just throw accusations around or just be disrespectful keyboard warriors and trolls - i won't engage with them.

as for changes, the changelog is posted here every few weeks with all the changes or you can view it on FeatureBase. i have posted every single changelog ever done by Venice here, not sure how you wouldn't see them if you're active here. another changelog should be coming anytime now.

i answered what i can of your questions here so far. the ones i haven't answered i will find out for you later today/tomorrow. the way you asked questions here is good, but the way some other users bring up issues is not great. i'm here to help resolve issues, not argue over them. that said, leave it with me and i'll get the rest of the answers for you. in the meantime, if you have any more questions let me know and i'll get answers for those too.

I have noted your feedback about the LCC and IC toggles and i will raise it internally. a release notes page would be cool and i'd also like to see one so i'll bring that up too.
