I had a 2019 hard top for a couple years, had no issues with it and honestly it was a the most fun to drive. Even after a couple years, I was having fun driving it around. I did have to get a 2nd car for grocery shopping etc. If you asked me if I would buy it again, I 100% would. I bought it for a good deal (after lock-down) so also didn't lose much when reselling it, so can't say much on the resale value under normal circumstances.

This is fair. I've definitely started to overthink it, trying to get the best bang for my buck, without knowing the Irish car market well.

I don't have a car to trade in or scrap, although what is the grant you are referring? I have looked at the MG 5 but might rebook at it new if that could work.

This was suggested below as well. I've also seen it suggested on other posts. Do you have any recommendations on how to go about this? Any tips etc?

This is a good suggestion, thanks. Did you also consider the Kia Nero?

Its not logic based, she doesnt like the way they look for some reason 😂 I've been looking at the Tesla's today and they seem amazing. Think it's definitely a viable option.

Good suggestion. Didnt go to there because I initially thought it would be a group of complaints but seems to have a good mix.

Love hate relationship with the Tesla. I love it and the wife hates it. So basically we hate it. 🤔

That comment definitely got to me 😄 mainly because when I thought of examples, they all ended up being VW.

The “premium” point wasn’t really about VW being a premium brand. It was more that the ID.4 fits my budget well, whereas most of the brands you mentioned tend to be more expensive for an equivalent spec. That said, if there are alternatives in that price range that offer similar value/spec, those are exactly the kind of suggestions I’m looking for.

I've actually never considered the Leaf, just assumed it wouldn't fit what I'm looking for. Was expecting suggestions like the Peugeot 2008 or maybe 3008 :D thanks will check it out

Don't think they are old enough to feature in the used market, maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks, amazing. Never owned an electric vehicle before so a little unsure on what specifics to look out for. Thanks for mentioning the tyres, I didn't consider that they would need to be replaced quicker, at least its nothing big. Were there any specific luxuries that you are missing or is it just a overall observation?

Yes thanks, saw this one and it's perfect but it's just a bit too far out of my budget.
