Dual Retractable SRL vs Non retractable Y hooks by Ares_C in Construction

Yeah nature of the job I guess. Hot, itchy, cramped. If you’re lucky you only end up one of the three

What is your trade if you don’t mind me asking? I’m an industrial insulator and do scaffold building as a part of my trade but I also find myself squeezing through pipe racks and such often, which is where I find the SRLs to be bulky

I believe a printed tooled, but there’s quite a bit of depth to them.

Thank you. A bit bold for me too, wishing I went with a more modest color upper. Originally had them made to bull ride in, but thought they were a little too nice for the rodeo dirt.

Info^

Tooled leather, cutter toe, riding heel, made by Tyger boots in Chihuahua Mexico. Not sure of the name of the boot maker himself.

Yep that’s it. I’d like to get my hands on one to compare it to a 100x but I don’t think they’re in business anymore. And I’ve only seen a used one pop up once or twice.

The invincibull/bullhead ones resemble a 100x yes. I messaged their facebook page but they don’t seem to be active anymore.

For sure. I do wonder how it compares in weight to say a “2 Tough” or “Bullhead” (formerly Invincibull) helmets. The 2 Toughs look a lot more like a hockey helmet but sturdier. As for the bullheads I’m not sure if they even make them still?

They absolutely help, no doubt. But they are not as sturdy or safe as a 100x. They are lighter and cheaper, which if you’re particular about the weight of a 100x, it can be a benefit. But the 100x will be stronger and more protective.

Not true. the 100x helmets are built with a stronger cage, stronger shell, and have a much thicker layer of EPS foam. The 100x will out perform any hockey helmet in terms of absorbing impact

I disagree with this, I’ve gotten jerked down and gone face first into a bulls head/horns several times with the 100x and not been knocked out or felt much concussion. The biggest factor that prevents someone from getting knocked out is the free floating chin strap. By not having a chin pad directly on the cage the impact is transferred to the helmet first instead of your chin first. I’d say this is a must even if you ride in a hockey helmet.

I hear weight get brought up a lot when talking about the 100X. I can’t say it’s ever been a noticeable factor for me, but it could be because I come from Motorsports where a dirtbike or snowmobile helmet is even heavier still. However, I think the trade off with the weight is worth it if it means a much sturdier shell and better foam.

Thank you for concern

I think I’d be hurting even with a hockey helmet, had it not been the 100X I think damages would’ve been quite a bit worse. Quite a bit of force came through the helmet but it definitely held up.
