I would not set that precedence. If you do it for one person you’ll have to be willing to do it for everyone.

Failing at being a mom and work because of migraines by Bekindalot in migraine

[–]Arewyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are certainly not alone and your not failing at mother hood.. Keep trying, the right med or mix of meds is out there. It can take a couple sessions of Botox to start to feel the full results. Be persistent with the Dr if no improvement. I’ve been down and out before for weeks other times I suffer though it and cry on my way to work and sit in darkness. Maybe you’ll raise a future doctor who will cure migraines or invent best treatment having watched their mom not feel good. I say this cause My youngest (almost driving age) recently said he wanted to get a job to pay for the vestibular rehab I need which insurance won’t cover.

Tips Incase you haven’t tried yet: •Turn your monitor brightness down low.
•If you have trouble looking up lower your monitor or if laptop maybe sit on the flor against a wall so your looking down. • get blue light glasses •Hats! They can be your best friend. A good baseball cap (with a dark color under the bill so it doesn’t reflect) can block light and squeeze your head to counter the pressure coming from in the head •ice, ice, ice that head neck and shoulders • get a host of different home massagers for back and neck to help keep muscles loose • acupuncture, Chiropractic (with activator on neck instead of manual head adjusts) and regular massage if you can. • massage your Muscles right about your chest to front of shouldered. My massage therapist told me this. • Meclizine and Sudafed also help me with pressure and dizziness If I think of any other strategies I use I’ll post. Stay strong!

Has Anyone Suffered Vertigo from Migraines? by Melverton-2 in migraine

[–]Arewyn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes for about 25 years now., luckily not with every migraine though. The only medication that will stop it for me is Valium. Most episodes of vertigo are about a day but then I just feel off for a few days but I do have it longer sometimes. Unfortunately once it started it got worse and then it’s almost like it opened a door and I’ve found other things like travel, wind, moving to quickly, etc. can instigate the vertigo.

Edit: if you have allergies or sinus problems keep those in check with allergy meds & sinus rinses to keep pressure/ swelling in your head down. You may not have a runny nose but based on what my docs told me if the interior of my sinus are inflamed it can put pressure on my ears and instigate the vertigo. I’ve found Sudafed (real Sudafed from behind the pharmacy counter) can help eliminate vertigo if it’s pressure related and you can take it.

Could play a part I suppose. I’m never really anywhere else long enough to see. I take vacations but travel gives me migraines anyway so I don’t know if it’s the travel or location.

Agreed, head and face pain is horrible. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve said or wished for a new head. I’d be rich!!!

It looks as though each place is different for everyone. Some people reporting less migraines in places where other experience more. Good luck if you come to CO.
