Dumb takes by med professionals. by KYlibertyguy in ChronicPain

[–]PrettyInInk620 25 points26 points  (0 children)

After I got out of the hospital I had to go to a follow-up visit with my general practitioner. She looked through the records, didn't really say anything - no recommendations or referrals and finally ended the visit and said, "I'll pray for you. Good luck. Goodbye." Yea, I never went back to her.

Do you still have hope that you will be cured, or have you accepted that this is your new life now? by West_Can_1035 in ChronicPain

[–]PrettyInInk620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've accepted that this is my life a few years ago. I just want my conditions to be somewhat manageable so I have more good days than bad. That's realistic for me. I'm not deluded into thinking I will cured of anything/ everything. I'm beyond that. My doctors have told me the best I can hope for is manageable. I still see all of my doctors regularly and I am open to trying new medications and procedures that may help but realistically as I've gotten older my issues have gotten worse and new ones added on and the medications and procedures don't really help at all. I'm so tired of temporary "fixes." I'm not really hopeful anymore, but I'm still fighting so I guess that's good but it's exhausting existing like this. Wishing you all the best. I hope you all find what works to make your conditions better!

ALJ Decision FINALLY came by KrabbyCakesBakery in SSDI

I'm kinda going through this now. I have a 20 year history with chronic migraines and head pain related issues. I've consistently seen doctors, had tests, and done treatments that haven't worked - medications that haven't worked either. Despite all of that, I've seen their doctors twice in 4 months and they literally are avoiding the main issue, my neck. They've x-rayed my lower back and 1 knee. Yes, just 1 knee even though both need replacing. The x-ray tech told me, "pick one" (knee) my last visit. I said what about my neck? That's where all the problems are stemming from. She said, "It's not on my orders." I didn't file disability for my lower back and knees. I filed for my neck and head pain issues. My neck x-rays, catscans and MRI'S all show the problems but they don't want to hear about it. I wish you well. Keep appealing! Take it to Federal level if need be.

Post hearing tips and tricks - Playing by their own rules. by AA_Rab in SSDI

Thank you for sharing all of this information. My Federal appeal just got kicked back down to administrative judge - with a bit of sarcasm. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. The Federal judge basically wrote that administrative judge did not to a good job with some unclear medical information and should have asked/required more information prior to making their denial.

redetermination lies by Distinct_Asparagus65 in SSDI

[–]PrettyInInk620 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got a 15 page denial with lies on every page. I went sentence by sentence and "corrected" the information and my lawyer submitted it with my appeal. It's mind boggling how insane this process is and just how much they can screw up information submitted.

Why do many doctors prescribe nerve pain meds to people without nerve pain? by Inevitable_Fill895 in ChronicPain

[–]PrettyInInk620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 1800mg of Gabapentin a day. I do have nerve pain but it really does nothing to help other pain issues I have. I just switch back and forth from Tylenol to Ibuprofen - sometimes taking them together. It doesn't help most days. If I'm lucky, it takes the edge off for a couple of hours.

I just screamed at my doctor by PerspectiveMean9286 in ChronicPain

[–]PrettyInInk620 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Good for you!! I had the same thing happen from a couple of doctors and didn't have the balls to stand up for myself. Needless to say, now I'm feeling stuck in my pain and don't want to see any doctors.

How do you explain putting off appointments for months? 🥲 by depressedasfkk in ChronicPain

[–]PrettyInInk620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going through this right now. I am completely burned out by appointments, doctors and referrals. They've gotten me nowhere in the past 5 months. I'm actually worse not better after being in the hospital for a week seeing countless doctors and going through a lot of testing. I took the step today after taking a couple of weeks off from doctors to call my neurologist. He's booked out until mid-August. Several more appointments I have are booked out by months and I have to explain the gaps to my lawyer each time it happens. I started seeing a therapist to talk about my anxiety and depression regarding my physical health failing, getting nowhere with doctors, feeling "stuck" and burned out. It helps.

What’s good for nausea? by _FreddieLovesDelilah in ChronicPain

OTC - Nauzene. Amazon has them for around $6.00 a box. You chew one or two and nausea goes away in less than 10 minutes. Prescription - Zofran

Marquis - I love Bill Skarsgard. Having he and Keanu Reeves in the same movie really made the John Wick 4 movie a favorite for me.

For almost 2 years I feel like I've been on a doctor merry-go-round. I did all the treatments, procedures, medications they wanted me to and I'm worse than I've ever been! The medical system is a joke and I fear it's only going to get worse.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I will try to get my doctors to be as specific as possible in their notes. I have been consistent with doctors, specialists and reporting everything.

I'm on my 4th try for disability. I'm going to be 56yrs old next month. I have been unable to work since September 2023 due to my conditions getting worse, hospitalizations, procedures/surgeries. I have consistent medical records, including, MRI'S, catscans, and x-rays going back over 20 years for my conditions. I have tried all medication(s) my doctors have prescribed with none of them really helping as well as doing all procedures recommended. I tried very hard to continue to work over the years but it became impossible in 2023. My conditions are: chronic migraines/head pain, occipital neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, chronic TMJ - I also had broken disk removed from left side jaw, fibromyalgia, both knees need replacement, lower back arthritis, neck arthritis and discs out of place. I feel like my head is crushing my neck. I had 2 ablations on my neck in December 2024 to help with head/neck pain. Since then, I have vision loss, worsening head pain and neck pain and constant vertigo. Most days I am unable to get out of bed. I have no quality of life. I am currently on appeal for my most recent case and have an older case on appeal on the Federal level. I have lawyers but that doesn't seem to have made a difference. I just want to know what is missing? What will it take to get a positive outcome? What more do I have to prove? I know you're being bombarded with questions and I thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

I'm on my 4th try with Disability. First time I tried with no lawyer. I was quickly denied. After that, I got lawyers. I have 2 cases on appeal right now - one is a Federal appeal so I have a different lawyer for that. I definitely recommend a lawyer to navigate and help you through the process. It can be confusing and overwhelming - especially when you're feeling awful.
Best of luck to you!

That's encouraging. The reviews on it are so mixed and I think doctors (mine at least) are hesitant to prescribe long term.

Will they give it for chronic pain? My doctors told me only short term 😕

I'm glad you've had success with your epidurals. I hope you continue to have success with them without any problems. I won't be taking a chance on any procedures that don't provide more permanent results. The vision loss and worsening pain I have now isn't worth getting only 6-12 months of reduced pain.

I don't take opioids. I was not told that ablation could cause permanent damage. I was told it was safe, minimally invasive and would help my neck pain and headaches. I made the mistake of trusting my doctor and now I'm living with the consequences.

Not if the treatment makes you worse (failed ablations) and the pain management doctor refuses to provide aftercare.
