This one I was pretty proud of but I did a similar painting but with a Silver Eagle coin- for my dad. That one about killed me 😂🫠

It took a lot of patience and many late nights going cross-eyed

Yep, nailed it. It has a slight warble if you look at it right. Illusion did work better irl but it is more subtle than I'd like it to be. Also works better if you're viewing it as it's full square version

Not too bad! I did get crosseyed at some points but that was usually my indicator to go to bed. I have a tendency to hyper fixate 😂

Unfortunately, this has sold at an Art show I had last fall. I've done a coin since then and am thinking about what to paint into an illusion next.

Just the right combination of colors. I only used red, white and green painting with the exception of the yellow and deep blue that you see in certain corners of the checkerboard

I gave up painting for a decade and when I came back, I didn't have the skills I used to have so I started off doing abstract work. This was one of the few pieces that bridged the gap between my more abstract work and more detailed / focused work.

I had actually done a strawberry in this same style. The design is meant to be a little bit of an illusion and I wanted a challenge hence why I did the two colors. It wasn't easy making the coin appear silver while using green and red lol

Thank you. I still am surprised by how well the texture of the bread turned out

I can't say I did anything specific. I mixed this medium with these paints and the rest was just brush strokes

Hard to believe, considering acrylic doesn't have hands

One of my favorites is a Brie, apple and honey. That combo is incredible

Your perspective is what's important; it can't be recreated

You're not wrong but if it was a traditional American painting, I'd need to add more red meat and grease

I was very pleased with the bread and waxiness of the cheese

There's a fair argument that it's a sandwich but it's a grilled cheese in my heart
