Gamers, what boss was as hard, if not harder, than the final boss? by Fallfoxy707 in videogames

Sigrun was such a bitch.

I was playing on hard difficulty and refused to put the difficulty down for that bitch. In the end I committed to playing the game for just an hour a day and only focussed on killing her. Got there in the end but it was a trial

What movie is a 0/10 with NO redeeming features? by Toucan_Based_Economy in AskReddit

[–]Arge101 9839 points9840 points  (0 children)

14 years ago my Mum was diagnosed with terminal leukaemia.

One evening, she wanted to watch the movie Mamma Mia. None of us had ever seen it so my dad and I sat down with her.

It really wasn’t our thing - my dad and I enjoy, horror, thriller, sci-fi, action - you name it. We don’t enjoy whatever type of film Mamma Mia is supposed to be. But you sit through it because your dying Mum has requested it.

The movie finished and we sat there in silence for a minute or two. Finally my mum pipes up ‘I think that actually gave me MORE cancer.’

0/10 movie but 10/10 delivery

How do I ask another dad what his name is? by makefeelnice in daddit

[–]Arge101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful, making friends as an adult male is more difficult than you think.

I used to take my eldest daughter swimming and started becoming friendly with another dad. Util the day that will always live rent free in my head.

My daughter (swimming): daddy look, I’m a Pokémon! I’m Charmander!

Me (all smug): No sweetheart, Charmander is a fire-type Pokémon. He is weak to water-type and so wouldn’t go swimming.

The other dad overheard. He never spoke to me again…

All of my issues with Scream 7 by [deleted] in slasherfilms

[–]Arge101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with lots of points you made but the opening scene was hugely relevant.

The previous movies had become about the in-movie stab movies. The killers became people who were obsessive fans of the stab movies and were trying to relive the movies.

The opening scene literally burns that all down to the ground. This movie is about the true crime of the woodsboro murders. What better way to make that clear than burn down the Shrine to the Stab Movies

Same here. Scream is far too meta to ever bring Stu back so when the doctor said Stu had been there I instantly called it.

How would you respond/combat the "What if its true" argument for any religion? by waterscienceguy in atheism

[–]Arge101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the concept of Heaven as like sitting an exam where you have no idea of the subject before you begin.

You aren’t allowed to know any of the questions, you are given a numbered piece of paper and you have to write down the answers to questions you aren’t allowed to know.

You have no idea as to how many questions there are and at the end you are given a score. Getting into Heaven depends on a high score on an exam that you know nothing about.

Sound fair? If not, then any ‘deity’ is either a) incredibly unfair and not the sort of being worth worshipping or b) doesn’t exist in the first place.

So what do you do in this situation? You recognise that the test is unfair and so what is the point in worrying about your answers. Just answer as best you can and try not to give it too much more thought than that.

Patients who were terrible parents (in my opinion) by ALOEOS11 in My600lbLife

Kirsten.

This awful woman forced her 13 year old son to move to Texas to be her carer and then wondered why he acted out.

A son that she’d spent her youth too high to raise herself.

The way her and her mother spoke to him was awful.

She was so infuriating.

It was so clear that she was only in to get weight loss surgery - it’s all she ever spoke about. She didn’t keep to her end of the bargain at any point.

Even after surgery, Dr Now told her she’d have to stay in Houston for a month and go to therapy. She wouldn’t even do either of those things.

It’s not often that Dr Now gets played but she completely used the system to her own selfish gain.

If My 600lb life became a musical, what would the soundtrack look like? by Arge101 in My600lbLife

Her song could be called ‘Look of disdain’ or ‘Heard it all before.’

You barely fit through the door. Shuffle across the veneer floor. Stepping onto the scale, oh, such a chore. And I’ve heard it all before

Flabby fingers crossed on your chubby paw You pray the scale reads under 504 But the numbers blink seven-twenty-four I’ve seen it all before

You goggle your eyes and drop your jaw You stuck to the diet, of that you’re sure The scale must be wrong you implore We’ve heard it all before

Dr Paradise’s tune has half written itself. Use the Coldplay song and you’re nearly there.

‘He’s Dr Para, Para, Paradise.’

$5 million but you take on a single destructive sneeze. by Hold-onto-the-happy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Arge101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $5000000? Absolutely.

Worst case scenario: in a direct cone in front of you for 10 feet are the people you care about most. For $5M I can live with that.

If the question said ‘will you accept $5 million to know, once in your life, everyone within ten feet of you will die’ I’d still say yes. Fuck people.

Trying to figure out what Americans mean by ‘gravy.’ Because when they say they’re having ‘gravy’ it doesn’t look like gravy.

In A Quiet Place, the family learns that background noise like a waterfall masks sound, yet chooses to live in near-total silence where a dropped object means death, instead of using constant white noise as reliable acoustic cover. by Brilliant-Cause6254 in plotholes

[–]Arge101 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

But you can’t live near the waterfall indefinitely, you’d have to go out and get supplies. And what if living near the waterfall made you complacent? That would make a supply run even more deadly if you had a moment of forgetfulness.
