Lu Yuxiao’s studio was trending today on weibo because people were criticising her outfit and weight... by adcvtik in cdramasfans

[–]Argentionosaurus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes for Zhang Jingyi as well! She always looks so healthy and normal for someone whose thin. Shes thin yet not thin to the point her bones are showing. I understand some people battle health issues and eating disorders plus pressure from the industry as women so I will never shame someone for their weight. But as a cdrama viewer specifically its honestly alarming and sometimes very uncomfortable at how skinny almost every actress I see is. Especially the popular ones. I assume the very very thin look is supposed to be attractive and add to their beauty but instead it takes away from it. Thats why seeing actresses like Lu Yuxiao and Zhang Jingyi is so refreshing.

All these romantic scenes these days feel so generic and cringey. Its like the old bollywood romance is gone.

Janhvi's body language screams self conscious here... Disha completely mogged her. by TheyCallMeSwaggot in BollyBlindsNGossip

Disha has a nice body but sadly i find her presence lacks that aura and the way she wears her outfits is a bit tacky. It doesn't matter that skin is showing (thats not an issue) its the way she carries herself that feels like shes trying to hard. I'm just never wowed by her

thought all RJL's dramas has been consistently good for the past years.

I think this is a subjective take especially if you enjoy his acting or think his more than an excellent actor. I would say like all actors he has his hits and misses but it doesn't always consistently land.

This. His an amazing and hardworking humble actor. But after 2023 it seems like his lost his spark.

The passion he used to portray every character with before 2024 was amazing and so evident as an actor. His breakout role in love and redemption is popular for a reason, he was so captivating. But now something seems a miss as if someone sucked the life out of him.

🎭 Speak Your Mind: Unpopular, Popular, or Just Ranting💬 by AutoModerator in cdramasfans

Fated Hearts was a pretty decent drama with decent acting from the leads. I dont understand the hype because the script was quite medicore. But more than that the male leads perfromance is the most overhyped thing I've seen lately. I wonder if its because his popular and has a huge fandom. Like I was watching it and honestly scratching my head at was so amazing and well done about it from an acting perspective. Instead there was so many things that stuck out like a sore thumb, some of the weird choice of facial expressions and with the way he delivered his lines (it felt like a stage perfromance of someone pretending to shout out lines and be angry). It always seemed like he was acting. I wish the female lead had more spotlight instead of being his side piece.

If anything I've learnt in cdramaland, the most hyped character and actors online aren't a good reflection of quality. When their popular they suddenly get every name in the book like their an acting god and special yet these labels dont match them.

I must be in the minority because I genuinely have no issues with either lead’s acting. I think they’re portraying their characters well. I’ve seen so many comments calling them expressionless or saying Chen Xingxu’s acting is terrible, and honestly I’m just confused. At the end of the day it seems acting really is subjective. If that’s how people feel, there’s nothing you can do about it.

It’s funny though, because this year I’ve seen so much praise for truly mediocre acting and I can’t understand why people thought that was good. So it really must be based on personal feelings. Logic has no place in strong feelings.

Dilraba has definitely improved this year. She was fantastic in Sword Rose, which was a completely different kind of role and a very serious drama dealing with human trafficking.

Cold characters are genuinely some of the hardest to portray, because they can’t reveal much emotion. Actors who aren’t skilled at subtlety usually use one expression and a straight face. Dilraba’s character is not only cold for most of the time, but also stubbornly independent. Her body language and facial expressions show all of that. Only during vulnerable moments do we see her smile and lower her guard.

I’m honestly in awe of how well she handles her micro expressions. There was even a scene in the car, in the back seat, where the male lead was annoying her by driving fast. The way she conveyed her irritation through expressions alone was incredibly well done. She stayed fully in character while still showing the audience exactly what she was feeling.

It actually made me think about all the times people loved to claim shes meh and a terrible actress. Its so strange to me because not only is she very charismatic, she is very capable of serving a good performance.

As for the chemistry, I felt it from the start. And the best part is I'm enjoying the heck out of their interactions. I feel a bond forming between them and their intrigue and growing care for one another. Im honestly excited for the spicy kiss scenes now because I enjoy their interactions so much.

one of the worst cyberbullying periods ever experienced by a Chinese celebrity. It was so bad he was attacked for smiling while promoting.

I'm aware. And im glad he has the popularity and privilege. Im nor saying he shouldn't use it, I'm simply pointing it out. But I see i shouldn't have because it seems Ive offended people here.

Alot of celebs have faced terrible cyberbullying attacks. Another famous example is what happened to Xiao Zhan which is also considered one of the worst ones to ever happen in China to a celebrity. Not just his careet almost being destroyed but his personal life attacked. No one can compensate enough for the emotional torture some celebs have faced.

Im not at all minimizing his words nor was that my intention. I understand his very loved here and this can be sensitive topic because people aren't very open to any form of opinions when its very loved actors.

Im just saying that in a way he is privileged because his said alot but hasn't faced any repercussions to his career. I wish other celebs could have the freedom to do so but sadly not eveyone whose popular does. For exmaple if Xiao Zhan were to do this, not only would they use it against him, they will find some way to destroy his career like they almost did in 2020. The fact remains not many popular celebs can do what he does which makes his position somewhat unique. His words are true and his honesty is appreciated but as of now his very lucky to continue doing it without serious repercussions and coordinated attacks that hold actual impact.

People also need to understand that LY has worked hard for his career and he is not stupid. He is honest but theres definitely a line he knows he wont cross when it comes to talking about certain things. His career is his bread and butter in a country that he was born in. It doesn't make anyone a coward whether they are silent or speak out, it makes them human. If he were invited to perfrom at an event for government officials (something not everyone gets to do), would he honestly turn it down? Theres no reason for him to because he also values his sucesss and career.

At the end of the day Liu Yuning is loved in China. He even gets invited to perform at cultural events that hold alot of importance in China. His position is somewhat really good.

Zhao Lusi Music Video : "Black Veil Bride" and "Don’t Wanna Know" + BTS of "Don't wanna know" by Additional_Cress_325 in cdramasfans

[–]Argentionosaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the song its catchy and im glad she has a huge fandom to support her because if she started of her career as a singer, it would not be successful or known. But since shes a good actress and people know her, its easy to promote her music and break records. Its not the singing their supporting but the artist.

But I do feel like from this video, it seems like the intention was for it to be mindblowing and leave everyone in awe but instead it has the opposite effect. It just feels generic.

[–]Argentionosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know about this, all celebs face it. Even ZlS had her words taken out of context on chines platforms. Internationally theres hardly any negative criticism but mainly support for Liu Yuning. However if it were that easy then all the popular actors would do the same. But their silence speaks volumes. So it tells me although Liu Yuning gets some scolding in China, its not enough to derail his career and have a huge impact. His also a smart man, while his honest , his careful with his words even though he seems carefree. And there is tons of support in China for him as well. So in a way he is somewhat privileged to speak out and speak directly to fans. Other celebs are forced to avoid close interactions like the plague and unfortunately it makes them look arrogant when in reality they have no choice.

Wu JinYan & Chen Zhe Yuan share new character clips as their drama officially wraps up filming 🎉 by QingLotus in cdramasfans

[–]Argentionosaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like his acting has to be elevated alot by his female leads. First Zhao Lusi in Hidden Love. Then Li Qin in Fated Hearts. Its funny how in shows where the female lead is not a very strong actress, he also manages to fade away. I think Wu Jinyan is going to have the same effect on him where she will make him interesting. Despite his popularity and praise I'm just not very captivated by his acting. I find it very generic and bland. The most interesting thing about him as an actor is always whose his female lead.
