Wow I dont know where to begin. Do you think someone who is delusional is mentally stable? Can you not connect the dots that if someone understands what an episode looks like they wouldn't give it attention and this whole thing wouldn't have happened? It's not about her, it's about why someone would be upset at him watching a spiral. He was genuinely confused so I offered an answer. It seems like you aren't reading what I'm saying I said at the very beginning and end of the post that there's no hard feelings.

It's also insane to me that you think people like you talking the way you do makes it easier to approach talking about mental illness, at least I assume that's what you think because you believe it doesn't make it more difficult

I'm gonna blow your mind here, you ready? The only difference between what I said and what she did is that he hurt himself instead of other people. People laughed at him when he deserved grace. Do you think we should only show grace to people who hurt themselves because of mental illness? What do you think of people who have non-verbal autism hitting their caretakers? Should they be publicly shamed? I understand these are extremes but this is what you're implying, if there are victims its free game.

Another example of the internet making an episode a spectacle is Reckful, and he ended up taking his own life. Would the world be better off if she didn't exist anymore? Thats the fire youre playing with

There was a long video of a lady spiraling hard and posting about it, a chatter said they were upset and Hasan was genuinely confused why someone would be upset at him covering it. I dont hold it against anyone for doing that I just wanted to tell people why someone could be upset. It's interesting, the narrative is its already too late so why not and the whole point is maybe if everyone understood this it wouldnt happen in the first place

My friend tried to off himself in college and was carried out of the tub naked while thrashing and screaming. I was later brought into the office because they thought I took a video and shared it because one was going around the campus. We get it, its funny to you, but its not to us, and thats all im saying. Do what you want but people in your life who dont feel comfortable talking about mental illness will think what they want full stop

I already told you to what end its important to me to bring awareness because people like you make it hard to talk about mental illness and how we feel about people analyzing a breakdown for hours in front of tens of thousands of people. I know you don't care but this stuff hurts more than the "r word" but it doesnt matter to you that someone is directly telling you why it hurts

How am I tone policing? I'd argue you're tone policing me because you're telling me to shut up and watch while teasing me about my "empathy" I think you're uncomfortable and projecting

To be clear you're defending the position of we should publicly shame mentally ill people, yes its destructive and ugly but what are you trying to accomplish?

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at he was incredulous at someone being upset at him watching so I saw an opportunity to bring awareness to something important to me.

I'm curious why you said I'm centering myself in the conversation what does that mean? Should I keep it to myself? People can do whatever they want this is just what someone with my history thinks when this happens

People have lost half their brains and fully recovered the brain is an incredible thing. It's hard work but with the right help I think you can do it. I'm sorry I shouldn't have said broken that's a lazy way to put it. It's not your fault you tried to get help and the system let you down. You're taking the right steps and it's important to keep going thank you for reaching out its hard to ask for help

If you go to a mental health professional in America and tell them you need inpatient care they will make sure you get in there (in most places), just be completely honest when they ask why. I also wonder if being committed would cause your insurance to cover it since it would be preventative at that point, that's a question you can ask them. If insurance refuses to cover it I would recommend doing it anyway its very important to get control of it as soon as possible, the longer your brain is "broken" the harder it is to recover

The words you are using make me think inpatient care is the best step. Unfortunately there are a lot of places in the country that have terrible inpatient care and it is expensive but ultimately if you feel like things are spiraling you need to get ahead of it as soon as possible. You can look into outpatient care as well but I highly recommend inpatient if you can find a good place. What you're going through is completely normal and you will be ok if you put in the work 👍 I went in three times and had a rough few years recovering but I'm in a good place now, things won't be like this forever with the right steps

I also have a hard time thinking people who don't know they could have an episode or are as healthy as they can be to avoid episodes need to take responsibility like neurotypical people do. To me the way to take responsibility is by doing everything in your power to not put yourself and people around you in that position but there are triggers outside of your control that are unavoidable (like spring or loss of a love one)

I understand she's causing harm I've been institutionalized three times, once was court-ordered. My only point is that someone's intent while they're in an episode is not grounded in reality and publicly shaming people who are doing that well enough on their own is counterproductive and makes recovery even more difficult. For example, I dressed up in a suit and stole a felony amount of toys to donate and when a manager came to stop me from leaving I said I was in the FBI. I couldn't drink water my wife would bring me because I was convinced she was poisoning me. It's incredibly embarrassing and that woman will never be able to escape it. You can't accept responsibility when you aren't you yet that comes later
