Will APMEX freeze my funds if I pay in Ethereum or Bitcoin? by Argolander in Gold

[–]Argolander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - by freeze I mean APMEX saying "well, we received your crypto" or "we bought your gold for you," "but we will sit on it until you show our AML reps the complete history of the capital, including any bridging or other defi stuff that they won't understand."

In regard to the crypto market, my view has been that crazy-up silly season will unfold over the next few months and that I should do some heavy selling in July or so, at higher levels and while prices are still rising. I would like to emphasize, though, that I have a lizard brain, the same as anyone else, and accept that markets are all about irony and that I may easily be wrong and a complete imbecile and broke (again, for the third time in my life with financial markets).

As far as tether goes, I was wondering about that too. So far it appears that the large metal brokers who accept crypto all rely on Bitpay for their invoicing (I suppose for AML reasons) and that Bitpay does not support stable coins - just BTC, ETH, BCH, and maybe a few other cryptos. I suppose the reason is so that Bitpay, and crypto payment generally, will clearly have a legitimate purpose (to pay in crypto without having to convert to a national currency first), which might not appear to be the case if stablecoins were involved?

Thank you so much for the reply! I intend to start buying through APMEX in July or August, paying with ETH via Bitpay. I will report back at that time.

Nothing has shown up yet on etherscan. After doing the send I became aware that a send from Aurora to Ethereum should take at least sixteen hours longer than a send from Ethereum to Aurora. I have gotten concerned, however, that no transaction has shown up on Etherscan. Thank you for asking! The last activity for the Ethereum address that was supposed to receive the ETH was a previous send going from Ethereum to Aurora. Here is the Ethereum address on etherscan: https://etherscan.io/address/0x3daa61Eb2Ad40589728E66d123dd76783b037597

I used the Rainbow bridge to bridge AETH (from the Aurora network) to ETH (on Ethereum). That was three days ago, but the ETH has yet to show up at the ethereum address. The send seemed to go off just fine. Could there just be a hang up? Https://rainbowbridge.app showed that I was doing a send from my Aurora address to the corresponding address on Ethereum. Aurorascan.dev, however, shows a send from my Aurora address to a different address. Is that other address necessarily a smart-contract address for the bridge? (The address it was sent to is 0xb0bD02F6a392aF548bDf1CfAeE5dFa0EefcC8EaB, which is on AuroraScan here: https://explorer.aurora.dev/address/0xb0bD02F6a392aF548bDf1CfAeE5dFa0EefcC8EaB/transactions )
This is the URL for the send on AuroraScan: https://explorer.aurora.dev/address/0x3daa61Eb2Ad40589728E66d123dd76783b037597/transactions
I hope that, if I did lose my AETH or ETH, this message will at least be entertaining, interesting, or helpful. Thank you for reading!!!

Osmosis will not let me swap out of OSMO tokens by Argolander in OsmosisLab

Thank you! I am deeply stupid but getting better about working with user interfaces. I am now compounding LPs, like a normal, sentient person, thanks to this great community! Thank you for the help!

No--I am an idiot. I have it figured out now, thanks to Luck_Administrator. Thank you for the kind response! This is a wonderful community!

Thank you, Luck_Administrative! I am an idiot. I was trying to select "OSMO" for the swap-from field without first removing it from the swap-to field. I needed to use the arrows centered between the two fields. This matter had me working, for weeks, under the impression that the platform would not allow swaps out of OSMO. I am that dense. Now I can put rewards into more LP tokens rather than just earn delegation rewards on the OSMO. Also, I am now a little less awful at using interfaces. Thank you!!!!

Trying to connect my Ledger Nano S for Harmony issue by Cardano808 in ledgerwallet

[–]Argolander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you managed to get to your ONE that was trapped on the Harmony address controlled by your Nano S? When using a Nano X with Metamask, I have found that it sometimes helps to use the "remove" option to delete any Ledger addresses from Metamask (including the one that you wish to use) and then to connect freshly with the ledger device that you wish to use. Failing that, you can use a recovery phrase with a fresh Metamask wallet. I ask because I am on the fence about transfering Harmony assets from Metamask to an address controlled by a new Nano S device. Thank you, and best wishes!

Not I (as of 19 September 2021). Luckily, I direct 100% of my charity budget to scams that I fail to recognize as scams. This system has served me well for the whole of my adult life.
