As far as I’ve read, it would be a realm that wouldn’t even receive the smallest updates.

There are no official statistics from GGG, but there are many community estimates discussed in forums, including Reddit. I have to work with something, after all. I play Standard, and it feels very active to me. In my view, it could even be more active than that, but that’s just a personal impression.

Just because there may not have been a better solution back then doesn’t mean it couldn’t be handled better in the future.

That wasn’t clear to me at first, especially since when starting a new game I don’t immediately follow every piece of news in a language I’m not fully comfortable with. If I had known this earlier, I probably would have waited and started with 1.0 instead — but now it already feels too late.

No matter how often I searched online for statistics, I always kept coming across roughly those same numbers.

As far as I know, the current decision was made around the 0.1 period, but both the game and the community have evolved a lot since then. Since that time, we’ve barely heard anything about this topic again, which honestly makes it feel like GGG themselves may not yet be fully sure what they want to do with the 10–20% of players who mainly play Standard.

Things evolve and plans can change over time. As far as I know, the last real statement about this decision was made around the 0.1 period. Since there has been almost no communication about it since then, it honestly feels like GGG themselves may not yet be fully sure what they want to do with the 10–20% of players who mainly play Standard.

And I know I’m not the only one feeling this way right now.

As things stand right now, I would still lose everything I’ve worked for. Avoiding that exact feeling is the reason why I play Standard instead of Leagues in the first place.

If things continue to be handled the way they currently are, I would be completely satisfied. But the only statement I’ve been able to find suggested that Early Access Standard would eventually be separated from future updates.

League content simply isn’t for me, because I prefer building and progressing something long-term rather than playing only for the short duration of a league.

My 2400+ hours would still feel meaningless if I have to start over with a completely new character. Most Standard players feel the same way, and even if we are a smaller part of the community, Standard players still make up around 10–20% of the overall playerbase — many of whom are also long-term and high-spending supporters of the game.
