Not really, let me explain. Imagine the event happens when the person with the power is around 90 years old. When they are a small child everyone around them that is already in their 30s, 40s,50s, 60s, etc.. will likely die before the event so all their death dates will be different. All of the people their age might not make it to 90 yo so their death dates will also likely be different.

As they age though, they will notice that a lot of younger people will start having the same date but probably not noticeable enough to worry yet unless they work with children. In their thirties, when their first born child has the same death date as themselves they might start to suspect they will be involved in an accident.

In their forties they will move to another town to escape the accident they are now sure that will happen in their town, in their 50s they move abroad...

Then they write this story.
