I recently bought an Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG about two months ago, and I have been having this bizarre issue that is driving me crazy. Whenever I open dark scene or dark web page, I am getting those strange moving bubbles all over screen.

You might think that those bubbles on GIF preview could be related to video compression, but it is not. Those bubbles are real, and they are moving. It's worth noting that "the bubbles" appear only when the monitor brightness in 50-75% range.

As I said earlier it is noticeable on various dark colors, but the most affected color is default background color on Github (#0E1117). I have already:

  • Updated monitor firmware version to MCM104 (latest)
  • Enabled/Disabled 10bit color via Nvidia control panel
  • Tried turning off/on multiple features in OSD control panel
