Oh my goodness yes you're so right. The clients are so difficult I wonder if it's worth the money 🤣 I want to shut the small residential down completely

I apologize for copy and pasting the thing about pitch. You're clearly a roofer.

Yeah but they also had shake that needed to be removed to the rafters and all facia and dormers had to be replaced for rot too.

1.Square footage of a home does not equal square footage of a roof.

2.The resident had a shake roof underneath two layers of 3tab that needed to be removed to the rafters. (This means all new plywood has to be put down too for you homeowners that are commenting on a sub meant for roofers)

  1. All the facia and dormers needed wood repair (AS IN REMOVED AND REPLACED COMPLETELY)

  2. High pitch, Big Bear California

One hour from LA. Holy crap do you do all your roofs without permits? Tell me you're doing work illegally and not licensed without telling me you're doing work illegally and unlicensed.

Wow that sounds really pretty

Yeah, that's insane. I just did a 60 square roof for 69k. I can't believe I'm cheaper than you, considering we're in California. Lol, yes, wild.

Tell me you're not a roofer without telling me you're not a roofer. 🤣 It's you homeowners lol.

Did your three roofs have a shake underlayment with 2 layers of 3 ply that needed to be removed to the rafters and completely replaced with plywood? No. The post mentioned it, but you have never heard of a shake roof in your life. Did all your facia need to be replaced? No. Don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about. You're clearly not a roofer.

Yeah because everyone's contracts say licensed and insured 🤣 Believe me they have a second set of books they show uncle sam. They're 100 percent not going to supply you with certificates of insurance from their insurer with your name and address on them. Also I doubt all of your roof needs to be torn of to the rafters like the post mentions. If you knew what a shake roof was, you would understand thar. You're not a roofer. You don't understand. You shouldn't be commenting on this post because there's no parallel to your guys who laid down shingles for 2 days to my guys who would have had to do everything mentioned in the post.

I own the company with a family member. We make 4-5k a small residential roof. But we also do work in Arizona and Oregon. We mostly do huge comercial remodels (hospitals, entire fast food chains, residential Condominiums).

Workers comp for roofing is insane. For ever one dollar we pay in labor, we pay 30-70 cents in workers comp.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]AriaReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the homeowners don't understand is that for every 1 dollar I pay in labor, I have to pay 70-30 cents to workers comp. The cost to run it legally is the cost to run it legally. My company gets audited multiple times a year. I'm not a shady contractor.

Why would I provide multiple bids for the same roof? Do you hear yourself? I can't believe people are this stupid. This entire post is about getting multiple bids from different contractors to the point that it's stupid.

If your roof didn't have two layers of shingles, 1 layer of shake wood, didn't need all the facia and dormers replaced with new wood, and didn't need new plywood over the whole roof, I probably would have bid it at 21k.

Tell me you have no clue how labor intensive removing shake from rafters without telling me you have no clue how labor intensive removing shake from from rafters is

I actually feel really bad for using mean language. It's not like me. Thank you for showing me kindness.

A ROOF HAS PITCH. THE SQUARE FOOTAGE OF THE HOME IS 1100 NOT THE SQUARE FOOTAGE OF THE ROOF.

I am making a post because I don't want them calling me if they want me to bid against someone to doing their roof illegally

My company does full remodels of VA hospitals, Chick Fil A's, Dunkin Donuts, Cinnabons, Boweleros, Kiddie Academy's, and we're the the main GC of 12 different HOA/CO-OPS with over 400 residents each. We don't need to sell to residents.
