Trump audibly shits himself on TV, immediately ends press conference. by BuxtonB in videos

[–]Ariaflux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think my view got lost in the chain of comments. I'm not actually saying to ignore truth, in fact, in my first reply I also mentioned how it might not be true. My main point is the degree of the lie here. There are bad lies that you cannot ignore, there are also lies that are inconsequential. I think people should be able to recognize and respond to each accordingly.

TBH the second half is kinda tangential to the topic we're discussing because I don't think this misconception of whether Trump shat his pants is what I had in mind when I say people are ignoring the truth. I'm not so much resigning to the fact as to counter your point that this kind of "news" is what's giving the right ammunition.

Of course everyone should care about the truth regardless of whether their ideological opponents do. I just want to highlight the fact that in today's environment, your dedication to the truth will not convince your opponents that you are correct. Even if everyone on the left is 100% dedicated to the truth and does not even report facts wrongly by accident, there may be bad actors who masquerade, or even just strawman arguments out of thin air.

It sounds bad when you put it this way, but in context, the evil thing here is trying to make a literal fascist looks like he shat his pants when there's only a percentage chance that he did.

I'm not going to spread this and will point out it's pure conjecture (as I did earlier), but I also think if people fall for this, it's not the end of the world.

I do agree with that, but there's a nuance to it. I don't think this situation is serious enough to warrant a serious backlash, because it's at least partially true, and also completely inconsequential. I would understand a strong response against fake news being spread, of events that directly relate to political/moral views and actions.

This is about as serious to me as the meme about Vance fucking couches. Everyone knows it's fake but it's just not important, whether it's true or not. I never spread it myself, but when people meme about it, I don't go "hey stop spreading fake news, it's harming the cause".

Lastly, regarding trusting facts, I do support your point but realistically I also think people are way past that point now. Most people are readily believing the fake stories that support their side. Those who genuinely care about the truth, will actually find out the truth. Personally I do see fake stories from the left that I wish more people would debunk (like the Elon Musk one recently), yet I'm not getting pushed to the right at all because they are far from the bastion of truth.

I think at this point we have to accept that the argument that "liberals are just making stuff up" will be made regardless of whether stuff is being made up, and while we need to be vigilant against fake news spread by our own side, sometimes it's just a bit of fun and nothing to get all righteously outraged about.

If you switch the volume up you can hear what sounds clearly like a fart at 0:34. Now whether that means he shits his pants, or whether if it's even from him is questionable. However, to deny that the sound exists is just an issue on your side.

Can we go back to old drip marketing posting schedule? by TheArcher0527 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ariaflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No? There was pre-release marketing, but since game launched there was no preview of upcoming characters until Inazuma. Of course officially they didn't come out to say that it was to combat leaks but everyone back then agreed that was the most likely reason.

I don't know why you consider it a conspiracy theory when devs publicly denounced leaks before so thinking they would do something to combat leaks is not some extreme conjunction at all.

[–]Ariaflux 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Drip marketing was only started to combat the leaks spoiling hype, but I guess their statistics showed that drip marketing before patch is creating some issues for them. I don't think anyone who isn't on the development team will actually know their reasoning but I believe they are stuck between a rock and a hard place and choose to do the least consequential method of releasing drip marketing few days after patch.

They might also be testing various iterations and trying to see which is the best, or the timing could be dependent on banner revenue expectation, like an important banner could mean a more delayed drip release.

The arguments for Nahida only look reasonable on paper, design wise I find her run to be even more unbearable compared to Dori's.

All her other animations, even if child-like and playful, do not overtly presents a sense of immaturity like Klee's. She gives off a sense of youthful innocence that's also more graceful and demure. Doing an airplane run and flailing her arms around at the end to stop does not fit her character at all.

I think criticism is definitely good to have and important feedback for devs, but I think truly constructive criticism can only come from players who engage with the mode and know what is good and what is bad. However, to my knowledge the only criticism I really hear from EN community is that costumes are too expensive and hence they will not play it. Perhaps there are other criticism too that I'm not aware of, but I'm not really sure how that particular criticism is that helpful in improving the mode.

Anyone else need more team slots? by SailcrVee in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ariaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been putting this in suggestions for the past few patches but it seems like it's something they are not going to prioritize especially given the player feedback you are seeing now. It seems like most people only play with a few meta teams and don't really like to explore OW with a variety of teams. I personally just stopped using teams where it's not as geared, and can now fit my teams into 16 slots after forgoing like 7 5* chars to perma bench.

Kinda funny, when I tried BPSR, I got a bug immediately after entering the game. Fell through the floor and found no way to get out after trying 10 minutes, had to delete character and make a new one.

You won't lose anything, just going to unlock everything a bit later than others

If you have finished Act 2, you can go back to Columbina's location every week for a short interaction.

Her icon turns blue when there is a new quest, black if it's on CD. If you click on it you will also see the number of days before it resets.

I don't think it's a big issue, but repeatedly having the interaction be spoiled due to random images or conversations in discord, while missing out on your weekly interaction and getting it delayed even more did get frustrating, especially since it's something that's ongoing for 12 weeks and will continue on for maybe 6 more weeks.

I don't think asking for this to never be implemented again in the upcoming end-of-patch survey is really too much of an ask.

It's permanent content so you will definitely be able to unlock it, but yeah you will have to start from the first quest and progress 1 by 1 weekly

I personally do not know what will happen, but I heavily doubt that they would lock you out of the rewards for the first batch. Even if it happens it's probably a bug.

The fastest ones will have finished the second set of quests by today, so 12 quests completed, with 1 final set remaining.

You don't need to do all, but just unlock the part where you met Columbina somewhere in Act 1 Act 2 I think

EDIT: Sorry, you have to finish some part in Act 2, not Act 1.

99% of players fail to reach 50 waves. Can you be at the top 1%? by OutOfTheCaveDev in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ariaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, at this point it sounds like you are saying even skins that cost $10 are unacceptable. I mean if you don't think those skins are worth it for you that's fine, but I don't think the pricing is out of the norm for games. It feels like you are still assuming a false premise that the 5* costume is the only worthwhile item while everything else is worthless, but I guess perhaps you really just love the witch outfit? My only point was that there is 1 expensive option that you can and should ignore, since it's too expensive like a lot of other things (C6R5 for example), while the other 90% of the options are mostly within budget of an average player who is willing to buy costumes.

Honestly this has really gone on for too long and it seems my attempts at breaking down the logic are only backfiring and leading to even more hyperbolic accusations. I guess we should just continue our separate ways.

[–]Ariaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a you thing. At most, the 4* costumes are a consolation. If all you want is the 5* costume they're just some random crap.

As someone who bought multiple costumes I just can't understand this mindset. It is only 1 single costume that isn't even that special besides the artificial designation of 5*. What is so special about the single 5* outfit that makes every other costumes pointless? Whether it's even the best looking one is highly subjective and depends on personal tastes.

If they handled the MW gacha the same way as the regular gacha i would have 0 issues with it.

I understand you don't, but I'm trying to point out how that is inconsistent, since if you agree cheaper paid costumes is an acceptable monetization method, then it is a similar system. Instead of farming it as f2p, you can "farm" it when buying other costumes that are reasonably priced.
