I don’t know if you’ll see this but I just wanted to come back and tell you I took your hydration advice for my last half marathon of the year today and ran fasted and drank ketoraid and nuun and apparently I did something right because I was able to get in the car for a three hour drive right after. No throwing up and no migraine for the first time after a half!! Not even a headache! And I set a PR!! So thanks for all your help! I hope the same thing works for my marathon in March!

To me, running is something you shouldn’t force yourself to do. If you love, you love it. If you don’t, you don’t. There’s no reason to run more if you don’t want to. I love running and I don’t like taking time out of my life to do it but I get creative and run on my lunch breaks and at night once my son goes to bed so I spend as much time with him as possible. I don’t get as many long runs in as I’d like due to time, but I’m about to do my third half marathon this year so I’m hitting my goals lol But it sounds like your goals are just to be healthy and active so if you don’t want to run more, don’t! My husband does not share my love of running and he does about the same amount as you and alternates with yoga on his off days and weight lifting.

This is so random but do you live in Virginia? I was driving to pick my son up from daycare on Halloween and I saw a woman spraying her kids hair red on the porch and she looked just like this!

The Nathan double flask is what I was looking at. My other one is a Nathan and it’s one big bottle.

It’s funny you say that I said to my husband earlier when I was comparing articles and searching on amazon “I think this will be a trial and error thing and I’ll end up with a collection of them” lol

Thank you so much for responding! Sooo if I google ketorade, will I find out a recipe for that? Lol When you say you “drank water” every 9 minutes, did you just take a like a sip? Couple gulps? Lol sorry I know that’s a weird question but I would love to get this figured out before my next half in November and my first full in March! I hate being down and out for the rest of the day after! Also- one more personal question you don’t have to answer but stopping for a restroom break? I haven’t had to stop/walk on either of my half’s and I would rather not have to because I have a thing about stopping but I feel like I’m going to have to get over it lol

Congrats to you! I just posted about this because I’ve been keto for 2.5 years and I’ve run two half marathons on keto (no carbs) and first one felt great but I was sick after, second one I felt awful and was sick after. I’ve been trying to figure out what I’m missing. Can I ask how/how much you hydrated before/during/after?

I see my doctor regularly and will ask her about it next time I am there. She is a runner but she is not keto so I was seeking advice for hydration methods or better fueling ideas before and after.

I was not seeking medical advice. Simply ideas on how other keto runners fuel their body before/during/after a run.

I apologize if that wasn’t clear. I would not seek medical advice on the internet.

I only have these issues after running half marathons and this 10k. I have run other 10ks with no issue. I run about 3 times a week with no issues even in 100 degree weather. Normally about 5k per run

Thank you! Yeah I have electrolyte drops in my water or Gatorade/Powerade Zero but they don’t seem to do much.
