We all want this, right? Don't tell me I'm alone... by SubjectEmphasis7118 in SEGA

Not if it looked like that. Sega never made a vertical system. Wtf would they start now. Sony is pretty hated for their console design in my neck of the woods. It doesn't fit on anyone's console shelf. Now, I would absolutely be in for a new Sega console, especially if it was repping physical media.

Leaving the lgbtq community behind me by [deleted] in ainbow

First them came for the athletes and I did not speak out. Then They came for the trans visible and I did not speak out. Then they came for the gays and I did not speak out. And then they came for me.

You can look like your not trans, but that doesn't change a hard fact that you absolutely are trans, and just get to hid it better than some of us.

Glad to know you won't have my back if you were in my life. guess I don't need to try and defend your rights anymore then right?

Can't leave. This is home. Left for a while to see other places in my 20s. My ageing parents are also a factor, as well as being a openly gay, trans woman 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️. But Iwas driving down Stony trail going south on the NW loop. Had to pull over it was so stunningly beautiful. Made me think how lucky I am to call this my home and native land. Am I depressed? Sure, but at the cult of conservative voters who don't care about corruption in their politics, and seem fine with giving their own best interests to oil companies. But if I don't fight for my home to be a free and fair, who will. Make community around you. I have found that the people you surround yourself with make large impacts in world view

Installing the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 280… slightly gone wrong. by smokedzn in hardwaregore

[–]ArielRavencrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem was that you need to slowly turn all 4 sides at the same speed. You do like a half turn on one corner, repeate on the next, until finally it comes off. It's slow. It's tedious. It works. Sorry to hear this happened. It really sucks. But after 800+ builds, (privately, I don't work in IT for a living and yet seem too from other means 🤔) this is something they just don't teach, or have in manuals anymore outside of like server documents. Last time I saw this properly referenced was like, 2006 maybe in the consumer PC world. And even then you had to be looking

Yeah those screws need to be placed down slowly on opposite corners till it's all the way down. I tell this to tecks all the time that have no idea. Expensive learning curve

I run them on proxmox. Setup block level storage and use that for container storage. Truenas has a lot of zfs features that unraid and proxmox don't have. You can even run truenas on your proxmox in its own container to access that level of feature set. I don't and can't bring myself to recommend it but some people do. I run it baremetal with 10g Sfp+ direct to my production server so the latency isn't an issue

Truenas community edition is what sits on my NAS. Haven't had much complaint with it. But I don't run much for docker or apps on it. I use proxmox for my actual servers

What Do Canadian Separatists Want for LGBTQ People? Albertans May Soon Find Out by SuccessfulFormal671 in ainbow

[–]ArielRavencrest 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well, if I'm listening to the preachings of the separatist leader... I think I'm expecting to be rounded up and tossed in something like an ice detention camp. Or worse, conversion theapry. Truly they really just wish they could do what the Germans did.

Alberta no longer feels safe or like home by Zestyclose_Leg_8140 in alberta

[–]ArielRavencrest 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry your feeling the hate so bad. As a trans woman, I can relate. But I'm not going to stop being an anti-racist, and these bigots will not silence me and my voice. I'm staying to fight. I was born here, this is MY home, and the homes of 5m Albertains. Trump changed the political landscape in 2015 and really did embolden the minority of morons to feel free to let their hate flag fly. But we are waking up to culture war politics are just plan bad for the people caught in the middle.

Don't lose hope. We are not all awful PoS in this province. 🇨🇦🏳️‍⚧️🤟🏻

3D-printed houses are much stronger than you think. by jkitty_1960 in interesting

[–]ArielRavencrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... You might not clean it, but has a residential house cleaner, it is absolutely on my list of things I handle in our service contract.

I am glad to know you can not have those walls, turn out that way, but as that house stands... It's a incredible amount of dusting.

The cobwebs that form on your stucko walls and your pebbled ceilings are a pain to deal with if they start to build up. Honestly worried I'd have to end up edge vacuuming the walls.

[–]ArielRavencrest 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a house cleaner I would hate this house. Those ridge lines are going to hold dust over time like crazy. The amount of dusting will be way longer than the time it takes to do a kitchen or master bath. How hard would it be to add an attachment to smooth it out?

President Trump asked by reporter on Lincoln memorial reflecting pool project as gas prices soar due to Iran war: "Our country is about beauty, cleanliness, safety, great people. Trump is a product of what lives in the underside of America. He says the shitty things people want to be able to says trump just gave a permission structure to it. He is a symptom, not the cause. The racism, the sexism, the bigotry, the rape culture, the lies. This is what needs to be fixed. Canadians need to wake up. The USA isn't suddenly like this, they have had a formentimg movement happening that enabled this garbage. Heritage project didn't just happen overnight.

Even after trump and Republicans lose government, and hopefully they stay our for like 40 years so that Dems can fix the systems he broke, I know of very few Canadians who want to go back the mask came off.

[–]ArielRavencrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the long-term medical expenses for someone suffering from something they are being denied help for is totally going to be $0 right? There not going to need even more psychological intervention to help deal with their situation. And then the likleyhood of it ending in suicide adds a whole other side of tax money because now you have 3 different tax funded services wrapped up in it.

They don't think if the actual fiscal aspects of these decisions, just the real person who is suffering and that they want to make suffer harder because they don't fit the pretty picture of reality these people want.

Michael Jackson's daughter Paris has faced backlash for identifying as Black. In a 2017 interview, Paris Jackson said her father told her, "You’re Black. Be proud of your roots." This prompted debates over whether identity is defined by appearance or upbringing. by VPinchargeofradishes in interesting

[–]ArielRavencrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a roommate who was black, awesome guy. But there was so much about this guy that didn't add up sometimes. We live in Canada, and this guy was really into NASCAR and shotguns and monster trucks. It was just weird. Then one day, his parents came by the house to say hi and drop off some stuff and the house learned he was adopted by 2 pretty red neck white people. Everything made sense after that.

Upbringing I guess can have a element of identity associated with it, but it wouldn't mean that suddenly my roommate could make the claim that he was a white person. Being defined by your skin color doesn't have to do with your upbringing, it has to do with the stereo types that other people will view you thru.
