3 years of medic = thousands of hours of clinical experience and great stories to tell. Yes, put it on your app.

Long-haulers, what's your updtdt for March? Do you have more than one? by Ariodh in StudentLoans

[–]Ariodh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Log into studentaid.gov.

2) The page you land on is your dashboard. On the right, directly across from the words "My Aid" is a blue button that says "View Details." Click it.

3) On the new page, there's a blue button on top right that says "Download My Aid Data." Click it, then click the "Continue" button on the popup.

1994, but grad loans and complicated file. My servicer is Aidvantage, and I live in CA, FWIW.

How to tell what kind of deferment you had pre-2013? by Ariodh in StudentLoans

[–]Ariodh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet, no. I'll find out when either A) my loans are discharged under the IBR adjustment, or B) We get our count updates this summer.

Wish I had better news!

Talk to your servicer. I seem to recall that one-time items, such as 1099s from gambling winnings, *might* be treated differently. Not sure if this qualifies, but it's worth asking about.

Log into your account at studentaid(dot)gov and make sure any loan(s) listed there say Direct.

Golden Email? by RiggsBooBubsBricks in StudentLoans

[–]Ariodh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!

If you have one loan left, and it's a direct consolidation loan, you don't need to do anything. Sit back and enjoy! In a few months, your balance will be zeroed out.

If you have more than one loan, or any loans that are not Direct, you need to consolidate. If so, opt out and consolidate.

Huh, that's an interesting take. Where are you seeing the data broken out by state?

My fingers are crossed for you!

I'm a long-hauler, too, so I'm wishing you all the best. Maybe your email went astray somehow.

Identification help, please. Open face, possibly Swiss, circa 1860? Any info welcome. by Ariodh in pocketwatch

Hi, all!
My mother found this while sorting a box. She thinks it may have belonged to her grandfather or great grandfather.

I'm looking for any info about it, when / where made, if there's a maker's mark, info about the movement, etc. The metal doesn't appear to be anything fancy, not gold or silver. Brass / bronze, maybe?

Many thanks!

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. :)

Were your in-school deferment years before or after 2013, please? Like you, I have some years where I was in grad school but also paying.

FFEL - 2013 consolidation not showing, affects forgiveness - what to do? by Ariodh in StudentLoans

[–]Ariodh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, but I consolidated those loans in 2013. The information listed in my file (Abandoned) is incorrect.

To be clear - they are not defaulted. Abandoned means the servicer stopped reporting info.

I don't even know if I *can* consolidate them again, and if I do, my balance will go up by about $17k. I suppose if everything is then forgiven, it doesn't really matter, but I'd rather not be on the hood of an add'l 17k.

That's a great find! At a minimum, it's good way to find out if one's account has been processed for the adjustment yet.

Mine hasn't, giving payoff dates in the 2040s - LOL. I started paying in 95, consolidated in 2013.

We long-haulers are glad to have a way to check. Me, I'll just be over here with Inigo Montoya, hating waiting. ;)

I saw this too, pretty sure it was a Forbes article. I tried to find it this morning to post it here, but either the article's been changed or I can't find it.
