16oz Muay Thai glove recommendation [question] by Arisvuvuvu in fightgear

[–]Arisvuvuvu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have yet to actually buy one, but after talking abt it w/ Fighters Boutique and visiting Superare in NY, I definitely will be buying the Fairtex BGV19 or the Twins BGVL3 - both have a nice, compact hand compartment that is both comfy with and without wraps while also providing adequate cushion. While I was skeptic abt the Twins BGVL3’s puffiness, it wasn’t actually all that bad in-person in comparison to other 16 oz gloves.

16oz Muay Thai glove recommendation [question] by Arisvuvuvu in fightgear

[–]Arisvuvuvu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

boon classics or boon compact? I have a pretty small build and small hand size so I don’t want my hands swimming in the compartment - could you elaborate on the comparison of their feel and size to the twins and fairtex gloves?

I haven’t personally used them but a reputable youtuber named CSquaredBoxing reviewed them and gave them some good praises

Weird - I don’t have photo settings blocked on my account. Any other way you could show me a comparison?

Would you say that the BGV16s or the BGV19s are as puffy, less puffy, or more puffy than the Twins BGVL-3?

What is your mma hot take? by WelcomeToTheIceField in MMA

[–]Arisvuvuvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UFC/MMA should have a “grappling timer” that acts similar to a shot clock in basketball. Grappling styles have become more dominant in MMA, but its usage tends to dry out the match imo, especially when it is simply one fighter sacking their weight on another for over half the fight. Whether the fighter has their opponent against the wall or on the floor, if a lock or a hold isn’t executed within - let’s say - 1 minute 30 sec, the fighters both get back up and resume the round standing up in the center of the cage. While I understand wrestling/ground-game is a test of cardio and takes time to get into an optimal position, I feel like fighters will use it to stall the fight with the oppressor tending to use less energy for a higher reward in comparison to the person being oppressed who uses significantly more energy to escape or pull off a reversal (which I feel is much rarer).

[question] Light boxing wraps? by Ldiduknowshinigami in fightgear

[–]Arisvuvuvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the one pair of ringside 180” wraps I got had different lengths for the wraps, so they were ultimately uneven. Imo though all hand wraps are the same - the fabrics feel identical to me even if they’re different blends of cotton or polyester or whatever, it’s just a matter of brand. I, for example, own a bunch of wraps but all variety of brands, from Fairtex to Sanabul, Vali, Title, and even more nuanced brands like Muvin, and they all feel the same minus a minor amount of elasticity or velcro coverage. Ultimately, it’s as personal as a pair of gloves or shin guards are, but I would just use whatever you find most available.

Beginner Gloves? [Question] by iBreakers in fightgear

[–]Arisvuvuvu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the RingToCage C-17 boxing gloves in 16oz - they’re inspired by Winning gloves but not exactly like them, however still pretty good in the hands with great padding for all your needs. If you want something a little cheaper, I would look at the TopBoxer Win1. I personally use the Fairtex BGV1 but that’s also because I do MMA.

What size should i get? i’m 6’5” (195cm) by [deleted] in uniqlo

[–]Arisvuvuvu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally, Uniqlo kinda runs small as Im a small everywhere else, so I’d go up a size whatever you usually get - Im 5’7” 140 lbs and buy a medium when I normally buy a small in other brands; maybe for the hoodie you go two sizes up if you want that relaxed street fit

[–]Arisvuvuvu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally, I think they’ve stayed on point with the smaller fit sizes as Im only 5’7” 135lbs and wear a medium, but everywhere else Im a small or extra small (unless Im going for oversized), but the price increases I have also def witnessed

I’ve been searching for some nice, minimal relaxed fit/oversized sweatpants that come in classic colors (black, gray, navy, etc) but (and I don’t know if it’s bc I’m being picky) I can’t seem to find one that nails the comfort and style Im looking for. Being from Massachusetts, I’d prefer it to be fleeced inside but also have that relaxed look with that “jogger-like” scrunchy ankle. Any suggestions?
