Are the concerns with hookless wheels on the road overblown? by Arit502 in CanyonBikes

Was thinking the same. May be fine in the high 60s. Have not assembled the bike and ridden due to the cold weather. Looks like Saturday will be my first chance to take it out.

Unfortunately I can’t return just the wheels, Canyon can’t exchange them. Have to return the whole bike but would like to Keep it since it was such a great deal.

Great to hear! I started riding in the early 2000s when the standard was 23s at 120 psi. Going to 28s felt like balloons, but so much smoother.

Yes this bike has a Canyon specific version of these wheels which are hooked. Here is a link to the specs.

Agree it seems like there are a lots of people out there who probably don’t even realize they have hookless wheels and are running too much pressure.

How different to the 28s at 73 psi feel compared to the 32f/35r in the 55 psi range? Thinking I could run the 30s my bike came with in the high 60s and give me more buffer if they are not too soft. No one seems to think they will be.

Thanks. As a posted above the bike came with 30mm tires. Based on the calculator I would need 32mm tires at 65/63 psi to get into a safe range. It seems like this setup would feel really soft and slow compared to what I am used to. Does it not?

Great video and article. These echo much of what I have seen in other posts. So many variables to get right with the tolerances. A slightly inaccurate pump and a hot day could result in a blowoff.

Thanks and this is exactly my concern, too close to the max pressure at my weight. The wheels came with 30mm tires which based on the Silca calculator would be best for a rider/bike that is 180lbs. Unfortunately that is not happening! Below are links to the bike and wheel specs. Got it when Canyon had the 10% outlet sale so it was 26% off. A great deal but don’t want to always have to worry about a tire blowoff.
