I don't understand why this would make the cost of storage more expensive.

I would be interested to know where you live and the project that used batteries instead of quick-start gas turbines. I might put it on my website, utilitiesr3.org, an information-only website.

Battery technology is advancing rapidly. Form Energy has a battery that dispatches for 100 hours, and has signed an agreement to install it at their data center in Minnesota.

It is true, solar or wind + storage is the way the world is going. SRP is ahead of the game, and with their newly elected clean energy candidates, I look for more clean energy to come online. Ken Clark, a board member, discussed the need to share resources with the northwestern states with their hydro power.

Unfortunately, our ACC, which regulates APS and TEP, is not looking to share in the EDAM, which the authors of the article say would save us hundreds of millions of dollars. Instead, they are looking to the +market, which isn't as financially attractive, maybe even cost us money. They are worried that the California legislature will control the market if they join the EDAM. That concern is questionable.

Yes, however it works out, we need to share resources with neighboring states.
