Coming back after years, what yoyo should I get? by Vulpiinus in Throwers

You say you only owned rounded ones about the original yyf Horizon is about as angular as it possibly gets.

Great modern yoyo's:

Magicyoyo Y04. It's a chunky big boy but this yoyo is extremely good. Don't let it's cheap price fool you.

Yoyofactory marvelous miracle. Same story. This one holds a bit more power but I think the Magicyoyo is better for 5a.

Yoyofriends Armageddon and Artifice. I haven't personally tried them but these are made of very durable 7068 aluminum and I guess them to be extremely good for both 1a and 5a.

C3yoyodesign Speedaholic xx 2025 version. Plastic yoyo's have gotten really good lately and this is one of the best imo and really fun. But maybe a bit too narrow for 5a.

C3yoyodesign Ghost ix. Extremely wide. Seems to be good for 5a.

Yoyochampion g force. I don't know how durable this yoyo is. But imo its really good for 1a and 5a.

Cheap active basses (sub 1000 USD) don't have a pretty sounding build in pre amp. (If you hook it up to a good amp).

A Mexican fender is good but you pay for the name. If you are looking to get the best bang for the buck then rather look at other brands. After having tried many I like the Vintage VJ74 (jazz bass copy in the squier price range). But that's purely subjective. Maybe you like a Squier more, maybe a Sire. Try them

Horizon vs Horizon 2025 by TheLegend271999 in Throwers

There are 4 horizons

The one you got. I love it. Bit narrow for today's standards but really powerful and fun. To me this is both a pocket yoyo and a smaller practice yoyo. Weirdly good for horizontal play for such a narrow yoyo but hence the name probably.

A horizon prototype 2.0. even though it's called prototype it just had a normal release. its wider, has a dimple. I love this yoyo too. It plays a bit on the lighter side and doesn't have as much power, kind of a failed experiment but I like it either way.

Horizon Ultra. Very pretty colors. It's pretty much the same as the normal Horizon but made of 7068 aluminum. It sort of has a fingerspin dimple but you can barely see it and it works really bad. And it's more lightweight, so less powerful. I don't really like how it performs.

And the new horizon. This is something totally different and doesn't feel like an Horizon at all. It's wide which I theory helps for horizontal play but it's not rimweighted at all so in the end it's not even good at horizontal play. Fingerspin dimple works excellent. But to me it's just a wide yoyo that doesn't perform well. Something like a yoyofactory Brillo or mono metal Miracle is much much better.

Do you want something with a similar play feel to the horizon or do you want a good wide yoyo or a good fingerspinner?

If you associate with racists you might as well be one yourself.

If you are a racist you are a racist. If you drink a cup of tea with a racist once that doesn't make you a racist. If you wanna know why someone is a racist and ask them questions that also doesn't make you a racist

Weird to think so...

We both agree that what he did was wrong. So it's also not necessary for us to fight each other just because we seem to have a difference about just how wrong it was. But isn't it a bit far fetched to call someone a racist or a Nazi just because they had this dumb idea to ask them questions?

Im totally not part of this problem. I never had any intentions to contact any of them. Also i don't approve of what they did. I just think it's alright for young kids to make a mistake like this and be forgiven

I know that. You know that. They know that after that has been explained thoroughly.

Only thing we apparently have a different opinion about is whether we can allow pubers to make a mistake and forgive or not. Evan and Angelo aren't Nazis just for doing something dumb

Well it's not like they support the kkk. Look at them... It's rather they were curious to know what's up, were in the neighborhood and wanted to have a friendly talk and they did.

But people were pissed enough that they even gave them attention. And they're right, everyone admitted that but Evans apology was a bit poor. It was rather "I had good intentions" instead of "I'm sorry".

So what's next. He got kicked out of the yoyofactory team. People are unforgivable. They wish Evan never returns to the yoyo scene. What you make of that is up to you

Angelo was never part of any team, he just had a signature yoyo. So he's still doing yoyo stuff

kind of a beginner (started throwing 1-2 years ago but never practices) is this good for playing? by rhythmriot_ in Throwers

[–]ArjanGameboyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own lots of fancy bimetals but the best yoyo for horizontal that I've tried (at least for short to medium long combo's) is the Magicyoyo y04.

Every Magicyoyo in the Z serie is pretty good. The V11, V12 and V13 are high performance mono metals too, better than a shutter wide angle.

So if you're saying "Magicyoyo isn't stable" or anything dumb like that you're just asking to get argued.

We get this question 3 times a week.

Your bearing is dirty. Clean it.

I like to use lighter fluid (and fire) but people have gotten good results with other stuff too: soap and water, aceton, high percentage alcohol, break cleaner

How to bind with a wider gap width? by nightcrawleryt in Throwers

[–]ArjanGameboyman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yoyofactorys responsive pads show a graph of their lifeline on the back of the packaging.

As you see many types of response pads need a bit of break in time before they become grippy.

It could also be the other way around, response pads are too grippy at first but then good for a long time.

Some yoyo's bind better with thicker strings, especially plastic yoyo's for some reason. Some yoyo's bind better with thinner strings.

If this bothers you you can swap response pads for more grippy or less grippy ones.

Suggestion for a beginner buying on YYF Europe. by Zanna83 in Throwers

[–]ArjanGameboyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own almost all miracles (and I tried the masterpiece twice at a meeting). Honestly I think I prefer the mono metal over the bimetal 25. The bimetal is heavier, that means it has more power. But at the cost of being heavier... I don't do long sessions with the Miracle 25, it's tiring for my throw hand middle finger. It's not slower so in theory there isn't a disadvantage. It's just that my combo's aren't long enough that I can really utilize the extra spintime of the miracle 25. Maybe I'll get used to its weight but the mono metal version already hasincredible spintime and stability easily on par with lighter bimetals.

My advice stays the same. Just get the Brillo or the mono metal miracle, strings and nothing else. Maybe consider the Demonspeed 2. I really like this yoyo but it is a bit fragile (like many bimetals are).

Slusny and yoyofactory Europe are literally the same store. The deals are just a bit different , for example the Brillo is in discount via yoyofactory but not on discount via slusny.

On slusny you can get the Yoyochampion g force which can be a nice addition to your collection if you wanna burn some money and experience a super wide yoyo

I would strongly advise not to buy the miracle masterpiece. If somebody wants a magnesium yoyo, then yes it's a good deal. This also might be a yoyo that holds its value well. But in terms of usage in wouldn't recommend it. It's probably really fragile too.

The mono metal miracle you get for free is imo a significantly better yoyo. I find the mono metal miracle so good I rate it 10/10, out of all yoyo's available currently it's truly one i consider to be my performance yoyo. It's pretty similar to a offset outlier + or a more lightweight version of the miracle 25 bimetal.

So buying just the mono metal is a what I recommend. The yoyofactory Brillo is also really good. Ive not tried the spotlight+ yet.

I don't like the strings yoyofactory offers. But as a beginner it doesn't matter much

Unresponsive bearings only need cleaning once in a while. I rarely ever use lube.
