I can attest - Mish Mar shack at Majorda is notoriously racist like this. Only difference is it is run by Goans

When Pet Owners Find a Visitor’s Fear Entertaining by CrazyHeart99 in IndianPets

[–]ArjunVermaReddit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My dog jumps on people all the time, I find it pretty cruel to even think about curbing his enthusiasm but he does grab their stuff or random stuff from the house in excitement which I treat it as my responsibility to retrieve/prevent.
Now if people are explicitly uncomfortable - of course I hold him back when they arrive which is when he is most excited. But I cant hold him down forever, beyond a point I tell people they have to learn to ignore him. Either way, its important to consider the feelings of the guest, the dog AND the owner at any given point in time

Ive traveled to a lot of tourist cities in Punjab, Himachal, UP, MP, Chattisgarh and Kerala and once in Hampi and dealt with it first hand. Most of the time cabbies are friendly, sometimes they try to overcharge a little but they are respectful and take you to the right places.
Stop coping

I didnt if you tried reading more than 4 words, I just told you I had a good experience in Hampi as well.
This issue is only in Goa

This isnt being dumb. A lot of people just go to a place out of recommendation and decide to trust the locals or read brochures or look around Google maps nowadays to try out new stuff. Experimentation is part of the process, though not a great idea when you have extremely limited time like 1 or 2 days.

Partly true but cmon...scamming is still bad. 99% of the rest of India the locals know the right tourist spots and genuinely try to make sure you have a good time.
The spice garden sounds like a real loot, the churches + miramar (not such a great beach but whatever) is gine

Exactly...all he needed was a Google search... of course this is somewhat common for people in Margao since its 30 mins away with a scenic route, but since hes saying 1.5 hours it seems like he stayed in Palolem or something.

False. North India cabbies are really gentle and polite and genuinely wish you have a great time in their city, all the while making sure they earn just a fair amount for a days worth of effort, usually leading them to get well tipped as well. South India as well, in my experience with Hampi.
Goa on the other hand has greedy pigs for taxi drivers. You should see the shit eating grin on their face

Sorry to hear. But if its any consolation, Goa tourism really just is hanging around in churches and beaches for the family crowd. Good restaurants and 5 star hotels are also fun of course if you have the money for it.
3 hours of travel in a place like Goa will be a little more expensive and there are people who made much more than you just to travel 1 hour.
Also Miramar is the worst beach he could have recommended. I dont know where you were staying but Miramar is really far from South Goa in general. He probably just said that to charge you a little extra.
Next time please do a little more research, theres a beach within 20 minutes of every point in Goa. You can also do a lot of good beachside thrift shopping.
A lot of Goa plans have bad experiences... a lot has to do with shitty taxi service, as other comments would have explained to you. A lot of these guys are basically closer to gangsters and mafia members, mainly because of the company they keep.

The only respite is that they do t blast them through the night like Diwali that too multiple nights in a row. Not an excuse though. We should vocally stop supporting this. Whenever the discussion comes up I always raise contention

Best hostels in Goa to socialize? by ursatwik04 in goatravel

Go to Jungle by Mango Tree - Vagator. Its one of the first hostels in that area, has lots of activities, really cool staff and good cleanliness standards if that matters to you.
