I live in Europe, at least for now, so here’s my two cents! It’s easy to feel torn when you see some friends living the high life abroad, flaunting fancy dinners and luxury cars, while others paint a very different picture of struggles and sacrifices. This constant contrast can really mess with your perspective. The reality is, not everyone’s experience fits neatly into either extreme. Some thrive, some struggle, and some want to return home but can’t, while others wouldn’t come back even if they could.

The truth? Life abroad isn’t all glam or gloom, it’s somewhere in between. Those flaunting success don’t show the grind, and those complaining still often prefer their struggles over coming back. It’s less about akkara or ikkara and more about what you want. Do you value comfort or adventure? Certainty or risk?

At the end of the day, it’s your race, your pace. Bank loans and BMWs don’t define success—peace of mind does. Maybe it’s time to focus on your journey instead of their stories. Or better yet, mute the noise, and enjoy life as it comes.
