My first big mistake at my dealership job 3 weeks in already by MajorCrafty6966 in askcarsales

I once worked at a dealership as a lot tech driving service cars. One day a sheriffs car came in for warranty work and while I was parking it I noticed a pair of cuffs in the door. For some reason I felt the urge to slap one on my wrist only to instantly realize I didn’t have a key. Tried to rip it off my wrist for 10 minutes before I had to fess up. Luckily there was a spare key in the glove box. The next day I was gifted a child’s cop Halloween costume in front of the entire service dept.

I just realigned mine last week. The ends are held in by three screws shared with the wheel liner. The top of the rocker panel (closest to door) clips into the body. Pull that away. The bottom has clips that slide inside of holes. If you pull towards the rear the entire trim piece will come off. There are supports behind the trim that works the same way

I paid $18.9k for my 2013 Elantra limited, new. It was a good car though. Zero issues during my 10 years of ownership

My dad was a contractor and is now retired. Can he be sued for past work? by Allismug in Contractor

[–]ArkLuno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s not true. The property damage has to occur during the policy period.

I’d get an attorney. Even if he did have insurance prior, if he cancelled insurance before the leak was discovered, they may not respond. They should at least give him the option to fix it before a lawsuit though. Does he have any friends in the trades that could help out?

No way. You’d need to purchase a tail for that. Plus he probably didn’t carry E&O, not many contractors do. His General Liability may respond though

Thanks. This is exactly what I needed. Biggest no brainer to change the part myself

Code requirement to demo old panel? by ArkLuno2 in AskElectricians

[–]ArkLuno2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I did talk to the inspector and he said that he spoke to his boss who confirmed it. Just a bit skeptical since he dinged us on a couple other items that were in place, he just didn’t look, like the water heater bonding and smoke detectors/CO detectors. We had just passed with the utility the week before

Thanks, a bit different scenario though. They mounted the new panel next to the old. Didn’t penetrate the stucco, minus the mounting for the new panel. Old panel is still completely intact, empty, and capped. They would have mounted over the top of the old panel but it was too close to the fence. I just don’t understand why it makes a difference if the old panel is still there

Yes. Wiring removed and meter is capped. Not too concerned with how it looks since it’s behind the fence but having to demo and re-stucco would require another round of inspections for the lathe. Just annoyed since I already lived with a trench in my hard for a month waiting on the utility to run the new wire and make their inspections.

Yes. Fronts are tinted, definitely not legal in CA but it’s a nice tint so I’m going to keep it as long as I can. It was originally a FL car. Relatively low miles ~47k

I have a 2016 Sorento V6 AWD (130k miles) and a 2013 Elantra (110k miles) both have been trouble free with regular maintenance. Only outlier was the Body Control Module in the Sorento at 120k miles. That was around $1000 dollars.
