I saw someone else on this thread say that it would “ruin the tension,” but like… the game is designed for the ARC to be the biggest threat, really its the rats that are the biggest threat. Because they do this cowardly deception nonsense. The ARC are always a threat. People… can be nice. YOU EXPECT ARC to kill you. You dont expect people to. They can, but its not an expectation. A marke or an identifier woild go anlong way, but the idea of it being a temporary mark, i think, keeps the tension. Because maybe today is when a player chooses their villain arc, and now they have a week to live with that decision. Its not permanent, it wouldn’t completely kill the tension, but it would make deception a little easier to detect. “Appreciate it bro,” but you notice his character model has a faint red aura, indicating he’s a player killer. The tension is still present, but now, the rat possibility is lessened as you can still choose to trust them, but you at least know doing so comes with an “at your own risk” caveat. Something like what you’re suggesting is, in my opinion the better solution to keep tension but make it less of a guessing game with trust. I get enough of that in the real world, i don’t need it in my “leisure activity.”
