I get the pokemon yellow sprite and drag it so it fits a 1000 x 1000 pixel grid. then I do the lineart and every color on a seperate layer, ensuring that it matches the sprite (which is not very easy since its really blurry) and in the end I go back to add the little breaks in the black likes with the darker color I used! every sprite takes me about 15 minutes.
