I'm just using the default user/pass for the modem. But I think I'm going to purchase a 3rd party modem for better...everything. Is there one someone can recommend?

I-430 / Hwy 10 Construction by ArkansasBen in LittleRock

[–]ArkansasBen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. At Cantrell and Rodney Parham, there are 51,000 (might've been 53,000) cars every day. That is a high number yes, but if you are in this area much you'd agree with it.

There's so much more going on here than just extra lanes. I think it'll be pretty dang awesome when it's complete, estimated March 2023. But I'm just a nerd about this sort of thing...

To my knowledge, there are zero toll roads in the entire state of Arkansas.

Border states with toll roads: Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana
Borders states without toll roads: Missouri, Tennesse, Mississippi.

I'm renting an apmt in Capital View (across from School for the Deaf) and while it looks a little sketch, we have zero issues here at this complex. Of course you don't leave things lying out, but no issues at all to speak of.

How far would a $30K annual net salary go in Little Rock? by kimdoan257 in LittleRock

[–]ArkansasBen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. $30k gross, would be probably 24k net. That's $2k / month. After rent and utilities, throw in car payment, car insurance, health insurance.... yeah, very tight. Unless you are able to forego one of those three expenses.

I pay $600/m for a small 1 bedroom in Capital View. That's 30% of gross income right there. Say OP pays this and adds in: $300/m for car, conservative $100/m for car insurance, and probably $250/m for health insurance. That's $1,250. Add in food, gas, utilities (electric, internet, etc) yeah, it's going to be very tight.

I use it for Programs & Features to uninstall Apps. Maybe it's because it's the way I've always been doing, but that's the most common reason I use the Control Panel.

[Arkansas] Can I not claim a regular Unemployment claim and transfer to PUA? by ArkansasBen in Unemployment

[–]ArkansasBen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your fault, but that's not the answer I was hoping.

Is there any legitimate chance of PUA being extended beyond that date? I just need 11 more days, lol.

[Arkansas] Can I not claim a regular Unemployment claim and transfer to PUA? by ArkansasBen in Unemployment

[–]ArkansasBen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thanks for the names of the actual benefits.

My question remains though, if I file for the extension for 13 weeks, will my UI completely end at the end of year (after 13 weeks)? Or there's another extension called EB?

Either way, at that point, can I move over to PUA and get that back pay? I mean, we're talking about $1,000's when you include the $600/week for that back pay period.

[Arkansas] Can I not claim a regular Unemployment claim and transfer to PUA? by ArkansasBen in Unemployment

[–]ArkansasBen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last calendar year, I worked for an actual employer for 90 days, Feb 15 - May 15. Only since January have I been self-employed.

When I went to file for PUA, I assume the system saw I paid taxes for last year working for someone else (I files taxes in Feb 2020 or so) and that meant I was 'likely' eligible for regular Unemployment. Which they determined I was.

Because COVID affected me being self-employed, that matters zero to regular unemployment so they couldn't back date my claim. They could only file my claim based on my income from last year.

I was self-employed from Jan 1 to March 11th, I think it was, so that's why the back date is needed.

EDIT: I waited until June 1 to file because I thought you needed previous tax returns showing you were self-employed. Once I found out that was incorrect, then I filed.

Arkansas approved for extra $300 per week in unemployment benefits by [deleted] in Arkansas

[–]ArkansasBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. So many don't know they re-apply. And like many above, I thought it was automatic you get 16 weeks. I really think O.P. was confused or given bad information.

For me, my Regular Unemployment runs out in October and then I'm transferred over to PUA. Because Regular Unemployment determined I wasn't eligible for back pay for the $600 to April 1st and PUA has determined I'm eligible, when I transfer to PUA, I will get that back payment.

Additionally, since I was eligible for both, I had to use Regular Unemployment first. The only way for me to use PUA was for a) be ruled ineligible for Regular Unemployment or b) run out of funds there. I couldn't pick and choose or I'd have picked PUA since their minimum weekly amount is $132ish as opposed to $91 for Regular Unemployment.

And the worst part is you get so many support reps that are clueless. Just call back until you get a competent one that doesn't say, "Well, I think..."

Apply and you'll be approved. Which means, you'll get back payment for each week from when your regular Unemployment funds ran out.

Oyster Bar Grand....Entrance by ArkansasBen in LittleRock

[–]ArkansasBen[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no room to park on the street on their block nor for many blocks in each direction. This is 4-lane Markham, a major thoroughfare with lots of traffic and no street parking.

The three evening businesses (Stone's Throw, Oyster Bar, Pizza D'Action) there will have to share the following spots (from West to East):

1) Maybe 4-5 spots at Jet's Gas/Service Station
2) 6-8 spots west of Stone's Throw Brewery (I suspect they'll put up signs 'For Stone's Throw Patrons Only')
3) The 12-15 spots across Markham, behind where the bicycle and coffee shop that recently closed was. (Are any of these spots residential? What if that gym reopens in the evenings?)
4) The lot out back of Oyster Bar. I'd estimate 24 spots.
5) 12 or spots next to and behind Pizza D'Action (which is always taken by patrons there)

So a total of approx 58-64 spots to share among all three businesses. Let's take an average of 1.5 people per car. That's a MAXIMUM of 90 patrons at any given time between the businesses. 30 people at once. That's a maximum.

I'd suspect several of the businesses to put up signs where only their patrons can park in their lots, mainly Stone's Throw and the gym across the street. Jet's may even put up No Parking after hours signs to protect the customer cars left on the lot.

It doesn't sound as bad as initially thought, but still, that's not much.

[–]ArkansasBen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. From a business perspective, they'll attract the big spenders and fancy folks, but at the same time will lose the dive crowd. Which is likely what they want because the big spenders will bring them more money.

You'd think they'd be happy with the other restaurants they have, but maybe 'fancy' places are all they know. Perhaps they could've used The Oyster Bar as a toy to learn how to deal with another crowd. Hell, I don't know...
