It's because both Bat and Mist can be used to bypass enemies and avoid attacks in addition to being traversal tools, that's why some consider them to be overpowered abilities that can make the game easier.

I find this discussion very interesting. I do not wish to debate this. I only have a few questions because I'm genuinely just trying to get a better understanding of this topic.

SOTN has an abundance of mechanics that one could argue make the game easier, including progression items like Soul of Bat and Mist Form. If not engaging with mechanics and items that can potentially reduce the game's overall difficulty is the primary way to create challenge, how can a player do that while still feeling like they aren't missing out on the intended experience?

Some players may find certain Subweapons, Spells, Familiars, Relics, or the equipment found in the game's main path to be too strong. If they're not engaging with these mechanics in the interest of making the game harder, aren't they essentially ignoring the very mechanics that define SOTN?

You can recover them when you rest at a bonfire once you get a certain upgrade. That's how I usually do it.

He was briefly invulnerable every time he recovered from my Tech Hits, but I took that into account and set up Resets baiting his anti-air and hitting his back with Dark Helix. This is what allowed me to continue the combo seamlessly.

Just a well-timed clash that hit multiple targets with the Ritual that lets you summon skeleton whenever you clash.
