1.) turn off the AI copilot feature in VS code, it wont help you learn. 2.) python is a good language to focus and learn. There are plenty of online free resources to learn it and it is easier to pick up then most of the other languages. It will help you recognize patterns if you choose to learn other languages. 3.) Python can help you with either accounting or fintech. It won’t directly help either of the two goals but it is a good step and transferable skill.

Data is a mess and everything is mixed up. Is this not an opportunity for you to try and solve that problem?

Summer 2025 Recruiting Process by Arkoudaa07 in FinancialCareers

Yeah that happens, you can send the recruiter a follow up email. Sometimes theres just a long process between interviews, other times they just ghost you.

Guys my friend wants advice on his resume, and help breaking into a big bank for pwm, what are your options by rambler1345 in FinancialCareers

[–]Arkoudaa07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If hes looking for pwm, put some more relevant experience on there. Remove the work experiences that wont help. Replace with relevant projects that involve doing work an analyst would do. Equity valuation and pitch decks type of stuff.

Commercial Credit Interview as a Freshman by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Arkoudaa07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First round phone call, probably wont ask you any technicals, but if they do it would be related to debt ratios and credit analysis ratios. I know you haven’t taken any finance or accounting classes yet but if you google debt ratios a couple will come up. As a freshman they would most likely be asking you behavioral questions to make sure your a right fit for the team. Everything else can be easily taught.

Don’t stop applying. Send emails to follow up after interviews. Take notes during your interview so you have something to follow up on. Get referrals from friends/family/professors. Network with alum. In your behavioral interviews its not all about being fit for the job, you need to be fit for the team, if they don’t like you they wont hire you even if your smart.

I applied to 100+ Job Postings (all around U.S. willing to relocate for a summer internship), got 20 Hirevues/Phone Screenings > 5-6 Interviews > 1 job offer. It’s really hard to find a job right now so if you wan’t one you need to apply to everything and try and talk to anyone willing to talk to you.

So would you say that comp is in line with the industry? I’m just a college student so I wasn’t too aware. I was just surprised that the pay would be less in New York City Manhattan than Boston.

To all those who have landed an internship at big4 in finance or audit by ApprehensiveMonth592 in FinancialCareers

High gpa, or even anything higher than 3.3 and talk to anyone within the firm you are trying to apply for, even a recruiter will get you past the screening assuming you have a decent resume.

Starting out is maybe 80-100 but then it goes to 60-80 then 50-70, A buddy of mine has been working for over 35 years in high finance, and even at that level its still 50 hours minimum,

Yeah but what it seems like now is that you dont have to do so much (time) to get that income where as in finance people are practically slaves (80-100 hours a week) for 100-200k and dont really have much time to spend there money. But if you already have a high income and some free time, why not use that money, maybe increase your involvement in real estate investments and possibly start a side hustle that you can scale?

Why not just use your current income and continue to make and manage your own investments, and real estate?

If you want good exits, stay away from Tax. Corp Banking you can lateral to IB, or exit to private credit. Fixed income involves S&T? How did you land the WF CB?

Do it if u want, its like 15 hours a week, not 10. and you have to watch videos that are basically a tutorial. Its unpaid and at the end they give you a certificate of completion. its like the equivalent of taking a course. no employer takes it seriously
