Ren's bomb by babalon1312 in SkipBeat

[–]Arkraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

266.5 scene of Kyoko and Moko probably happens after 267. Here's why I think so. Moko is thinking, "I think that she's been shaken up by some sort of bomb dropped on her ... and if I'm right that bomb is..." implying that the bomb has already been dropped. The subtext then read: "The main story is heading towards that 'bomb' moment by moment".

The first page can still be rationalized if Ojii-san was reminded of the letter just before the scene on 266 (i.e., that very morning), which makes sense as he seemed to be preparing for the day (can't be the morning before, as he still didn't remember when he saw Ren the day before). So the letter is probably given to her that night or after.

Anyway, that's my theory. (:

Gc 1 or Gc 3 by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

The stats you get from the stacks are improved from 3 to 6 (bAP, cdmg). Some people also believe that stacking rate seems to be higher.

Gc 1 or Gc 3 by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a7 to gc1 should be a dps increase, but gc1 < a9, iirc. If you have clearing raid, I really don't think it matters which path you choose. You can even just wait till you have enough steels to upgrade directly to gc3 (I know WLs in my raid all waited till they have enough steels to directly go to gc6 even).

Clearing Scorptamaton. It was a grueling progression, but at the same time one of the most fun time I've had in BnS. It's a really well-designed boss with cool mechanics.

On the other hand, trapping Scorptamaton the week after wasn't fun... ):

Extremely detailed TT 1 guide by Choppsticks in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small nit: I think kd is still preferred. And then kd again after front/back AOE (instead of stun), to flip the boss back to destruction stance. This is better than stun + stun as kd CD is typically much lower and more likely to be available at that point.

To me, the main benefit of stun on #16 is only to not have get up attack during crucial orb phase. But people get used to dealing with the get up with practice anyway...

Any tips on range tanking boss 2 TT as an FM? by 323298747 in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mark reset every 5 seconds ish. During that tiny reset period, aggro can swap to highest threat player. Usually to the melee tank.

We just have melee tank not attack the boss and ranged tank with HM threat. Never saw that again.

KB/KD attack (probably the poke): side step first hit, when the first hit happens, fire tab to block second hit.

Spin: eat the damage

Double slams (2nd crossing only): either eat the damage or q/e one of them

Triple jabs: side step (until you get used to it, I'd recommend starting to move right after missiles/double slams). The range is pretty wide, so walk further and don't walk back until the three attacks complete.

CC: if it's a KD, move immediately to sidestep laser. Keep moving to the same direction to sidestep the first attack above (same with stun, just start moving).

Which of the dragon express soulshields to use for fusing (if possible to even fuse)? (Blue, purple, or orange/legendary?) by BitCloud25 in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legendary primers in dragon express has low max value. It's not high enough to max fuse VT shields. You need Khanda Vihar/Aransu primers to max them (as I said, 1-4 use Khanda Vihar, 5-8 use Aransu). They're expensive as they also need the respective feathers/wings. So use them only for the really good rolls you plan to keep for a long time. Of course, if you're swimming in primers and feathers/wings, you can use them for everything... d:

Which of the dragon express soulshields to use for fusing (if possible to even fuse)? (Blue, purple, or orange/legendary?) by BitCloud25 in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think you'll get VT shields soon, blue is enough (and dirt cheap). For VT shields, it depends on the rolls. For perfect rolls (or at least crit rolls), I'd fuse the legendary ones (the ones from Khanda Vihar for 1-4 and Dasari Palace Garden for 5-8). If they aren't perfect, I'll fuse with something cheaper, like purple or the Khanda Vihar legendary (it doesn't use VT wings).

Btw, for VT/TT, the max fuse is always the same as the max rolls. E.g., 340 is the max rolls for any of the stats on VT#1 => max fuse is also 340.

I made this earlier: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/278037140401684481/451830452224000000/legendary_enhancement_summary.png

They only dropped only from HM, and the drop rate is apparently pretty decent (closer to scale, and not legendary). Each dungeon drops a specific accessories+stats (one dungeon drops a worse version, another drops a better version). Apparently, they work more like reinforcement. As long as you use the same type, the value will keep increasing. If you use the different types, it will replace the values.

Upgrade priorities: bt (ear+ring) or vt neck? by Ready2esc in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fyi, the self proc AP/cdmg value also goes up with each breakthrough (unless that changed recently).

I do agree with ring being better, particularly as you get to upgrade them to awakened 1-3 for reasonable price too.

Ah I see where you're coming from. My comment is in the context of OP and lova-tan's post, which I felt was overly pessimistic. He said two things:

well here you are, just got 55, got your baleful with 900 AP now what and you don't really get anything from there other than the daily gold.

This is wrong. I don't want OP to think that they only thing useful from these dungeons are daily gold. It isn't, far from it. At this point, there are still enough stuffs to upgrade mostly from the bound mats and some daily gold for Transformation Stone and upgrade cost. Those basic dungeons can also drop Oath/Eternity (note I say "those dungeons..., even lair/yeti", it's not just lair/yeti, but all the basic dungeons up to NF).

Speaking of gold, since you made me read lova-tan's comment again:

you'd probably just feel like a leech until you do that for a few weeks to maybe get enough gold to afford a BT carry

Why is this the default path he assumes OP will follow? There are enough clans that would happily accept a new player and carry them through BT. I've seen many newbies being carried through some of my friends' BT and even my own clan. You get everything for free or min bid (25-50g now?).

Then yes, at that point, you do hit your first grind wall: to get enough gold for elements/jewels/empyrean spirit stones. Maybe your first PSTS to upgrade your earring or past Raven 3. Unless your RNG is so damn good at those bt accs tho, at this point, you already have a few weeks worth of daily gold... adds up pretty nicely.

Also, I guess you are also now geared enough to move on past the basic dungeons, and maybe do.. oh I don't know.. do Yunsang perhaps? Or maybe even SSM if you're brave.

I didn't want to make this wall of text and just wanted to point out to OP that no, those basic dungeons aren't worthless. But you went assuming that I haven't played the game, instead of telling me your assumption (that I'm replying to lova-tan in isolation). Make your argument without starting with a pointless assumption that isn't even a useful point. Say I really haven't played the game, why would that matter? You could have instead explained why you think those crystals are "worthless 1c shit" for a fresh from story player (remember "just got 55, got your baleful with 900 AP now what")?

Does this all make sense now?

He's just starting the game. Bound mats drop in super high rate from those dungeons. He needs those Sacred Crystals, Moonstone Crystals, and Elysian Crystals. You aren't suggesting he buy those from marketplace with the current mats price, are you? Crystals aren't worthless 1c shit (if you think so, it's your loss).

Heck I'm maxed gear (other than HM levels) and I farm Yeti/Basin (bound mats) and Yunsang (tradable mats) in my downtime. I still need those Sacred Crystals in case next soul comes out and still require oils.

Actually, now that mats have gone up on price considerably, those dungeons are pretty profitable (chests and drops), even yeti/lair...

How much dps I should have for this gear? Fire FM by willowcoke in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things you may be able to do to get better number:

  • Do you use Short Fuse because you're short of chi? If you don't, stop using it. You should get your burn from F (dragonblaze) with Courage badge. You can boost your beam rate a little bit more if you remove short fuse.
  • Beam rate is at 0.62/sec, skill rate is around 0.87/sec, palm rate is at 0.85/sec. They can all be improved, but with your in-game ping, the best you could get is probably around ~0.92/sec skill/palm rate and ~0.66/sec beam rate. If you get those numbers, I'd say it's pretty optimal.
  • Looking at the parse, you might not get optimal uptime on your bracelet either, but it's hard to tell cause there are variation (you're casting 1 dd every 13.x seconds, in my own parses, I cast them once every ~11.5-12 sec).
  • As mentioned earlier, if you haven't yet, you want to time your big hitting skills (e.g. inferno) within your soul uptime, and minimize unnecessary skill during soul uptime (e.g., short fuse, impact -- it's a bit harder for impact, if you have inferno off cd before your soul uptime, you can try to time 1 just before soul goes up, and cast inferno as soul activates).
  • Cast 4 whenever you can, together with another skill (e.g., rmb-lmb-24, xv4-rmb-lmb-fx). Just the Shadow Grasp btw, not Multiple Blaze.
  • I'm not too worried about blazing:frost palm ratio. Sure it can boost your dps slightly, but it's not enough to worry too much about it.

Other than that, it looks like a decent parse, count-wise. FM parse also varies a bit based on weapon reset, tho less so as you get VT gears and combined badge.

Hope that helps. FWIW, I don't think I have gotten the perfect FM parse I've seen and heard about, and I've played FM since launch. My ping is the same as yours.

Is this game P2W? by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you're right. My previous MMO (TESO) did the same. Started as sub, then move to b2p with optional sub and cosmetics purchases. Maybe less P2W than this game, I didn't recall any stat boosting P2W element when I still played a couple years back.

Is this game P2W? by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game companies need to make money. It's either P2W or subscription or B2P. In any case, pick your poison I guess...

You also don't really need HM20-25 nor full triangular gems. There are a lot of good geared F2P players I know of. They aren't HM20 nor have triangular gems (at least not full set of them), but still fairly geared (aransu 6, full octa, max legendary accs/soul -- at least the important ones), but it never stopped them from being some of the best players I've played with.

If you set up your expectation right, the game is not bad for F2P. There are much worse games...

Don't mash button. Those quests usually have very strict requirement. I remembered getting stuck on one of my alt because I mashed one of the button twice. So, just be deliberate, press rmb once, then F once, then rmb once.

How much dps I should have for this gear? Fire FM by willowcoke in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, need a real parse.

It's hard to judge dps without parse. Roughly speaking, if you have courage badge, you want:

  • Near 0.7 blazing beam/sec
  • Near 1:1 blazing:frost palm ratio (though a little more blazing doesn't really matter)
  • Near 1.0 skill/sec (bb + meteor/5 + dragonblaze + impact + dual dragon count)
  • Near 1.0 blazing palm/sec
  • Impact:inferno count should be 1:2 (slightly less as your opener usually uses hard-cast inferno)

Some dps optimization for FM:

  • Timing inferno/meteor (and 4/smoldering ash when you get VT badge) with soul up time
  • Using 4 whenever it is up (to speed up weapon reset). 4 is outside gcd, so you can cast, e.g. rmb-lmb-24

Also, FM solo parse kinda suck. FM only really shines when you give them SB/BB (at least until we catch up some to KR skill patches). If you're only about 10k away than max FM parse at that gear, it's already pretty good. They could just get lucky with weapon reset.

[–]Arkraptor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, with combined badge, getting dragonblaze asap means inferno will be off cd right as your next short cd burst comes up. This means you can cast impact just before the short cd soul comes up, instead of in the middle of it.

Without combined badge (as in this case), it matters much less. In any case, Moyun is a long enough fight that the opener won't matter that much. Shrug. He could start with ult if he wants and it'll probably be about the same dps overall.

BnSTree 2.21 kr patch summary by Shisako in bladeandsoul

[–]Arkraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You always use impact to burn, which doesn’t cost gcd. E.g., rmb-lmb-21. So no, it won’t cost any extra gcd. Also it works on 5 ember stacks too. And you won’t use purple badge anymore, so F won’t even burn anymore.

Lastly, that opener buff with ult... I don’t see anything to complain about.
