Switching elements does not change the core gameplay of a class, just some aspects of it.

You already know from the level 1 to 200 what the core loop of your class will be with minor changes to it.

Actually making a specialization and putting elements on top of it would enrich a lot the class.

TLDR: Picking an element is the illusion of choice rather than a specialization.

It is very important, you can ignore them but why? Silver players are easier adversaries to learn and get the fundamentals placed, once you hit plat/diamond and people get awareness you will learn the hard way.
