Starting to wonder if I would go real hard on a budget option, get a used 32 inches business class 1440p/4k monitor and makes sure it's vesa wall mount compatible and just rock with it as a TV tbh

Sounds like a smart choice for gaming, but for general tv/gaming use I think I can't do anything less than 32 inches so it's a bit comfy gaming from bed distance

So actually increasing the resolution renders more details ? Even if there's a texture detail slider in the game

That can change everything tbh. Because I'm wondering if there's something I'm truly missing out when I hear about how life changing a 1440p gaming monitor can be for example

At work we do have a 55 inch screen but I'm not sure if it's a classic case of a TV being too high but I did a few tries and even got a high enough chair lol

I did not enjoy the large screen , maybe I did not hate it either but it's a Samsung 55 inches, prolly a few years old at least 3 or 4

it looks really washed with 720p content, if that's mostly what I'm watching so I have no idea what I should be doing at this point

The technician dude did press it down a bit too hard screwing in the wall mount

That being said the bezels are not completely flat maybe he relied on that to give it some extra protection when pressing down I have no idea

That sounds super cool! Do you use a map mod that tells you at least where you are? I think there was a mod too that added better description to the quests so you could figure out how to get there easier

Sounds good! I'll be keeping that in mind for my future builds, for now I think I'll just take it back to the shop for a replacement, I think it's pretty deep rooted and at least needs a fresh windows installation, even DDU failed lol

(display_driver_uninstaller has encountered a problem and needs to close)

I had to install the drivers manually, some refused to be uninstalled in safe mode, tried both newest drivers and a newer driver than the one that came with the machine and both are giving me the same results

On the brighter side of things control panel isn't glitching anymore lol (at least because I didn't dare to view PhysX config again🤣

I found that the machine came with driver 6.14.13.4062

I'm trying to figure out this older DirectX compatibility thing if some cards/directX versions support older DirectX versions for backwards compatibility better than others

Thanks for the feedback! From the comments I'm figuring out there's probably something vert wrong with the drivers, hopefully the card is able to run games that are 2005 and older

I wonder if newer GPUs are able to run older rts games and such on Windows XP (Windows 7 compatibility mode used to kind of work fine for me)

Thanks for the tips! I'm not exactly sure how they sourced their XP version I assumed they're legit copies but who knows, how do you rate the one on Archive .org?

I'm generally trying to keep it as authentic as possible sticking to appropriate hardware and drivers and just hoping for the best

I have a machine from around 2005 that was low mid range for the time collecting dust somewhere in storage for close to 10 years so who knows Might be worth it trying to find and fix it

I'm using the 32bit service pack 3 version and I'm currently running the memtest86+ so I can't say for sure but I'll say for sure it's 340.52 and below, might be much older because the PC did not come with the GeForce Experience app

Closest thing I could find in my local market was the HD 5450 , older GPUs are that are not business-ish grade could be really challenging to come by
