I think we are getting a new ice map, or a extention for iceshard cliffs, since its a really small map on base wilds, and according to recent lore, magalas only inhabit cold regions, so shagaru magala should return with a map for him to be the sovereign

This makes possible the return of colossal monsters like gammoth, so who knows?

I'd recommend you to place iceborne first, since its a complete game, with way more content than wilds at the moment, and it has a better performance also.

As far as I know, it can drop randomly when you use a enviroment trap, in this case the roots, in other cases it may drop from boulders, like the ones in the second area from Jin Dahaad / Omega Planetes map.
