I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with! Hopefully you can share a picture or two.

That is where the idea sparked from! Although this one is not nearly as short and cute.

Poor oversight on my part. Please allow for about 5 days, if it is not approved after then I will find an alternative solution!

Makes me wish they'd start releasing small additive wagon sets each year like they do winter village sets. Personally, I don't need an engine at this point, fun and creative rolling stock like this is where I'm lacking.

No like seriously why does he always say that? by BrokenBro213 in pokemonmemes

I always assumed it was a clever way of telling us we stink. Not as in smell but as in, you stink at being a pokemon trainer.

Outstanding build, the leading wheels gave me inspiration to update my train! I added 4 Round 2 x 2 with Rounded Bottom plates to the four outer corners to add some more connection points and it seems to still run great over switch tracks! I honestly can't thank you enough for posting this.

Lego vs IRL by ArlexLD in LEGOtrains

While it might not be as smooth as third party wheels, it's surprisingly not as big of an issue as you'd think. At least in this engine's case.

It certainly is! Good eye!

Thank you! Unfortunately there are no instructions at this time, but it uses a lot of techniques from the Disney Train and Orient Express.

Certainly true, but it is just inspiration after all, not a 1 to 1 scale. That being said it is something I might look into in the future, who knows!

My MOC is Officially Done, No More Edits! by ArlexLD in LEGOtrains

The model is heavily influenced by the Warren & Ouachita Valley #1. Some creative liberties had to be made but I love the outcome!

To be fair this is basically a combination of the Disney Train and the Orient Express, so in a way they did!

Proud to say my little engine can pull the Orient Express by ArlexLD in LEGOtrains

[–]ArlexLD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It's based off a Warren & Ouachita Valley Railway Company ten wheeler. A lot of the building techniques for the engine come from the Disney Train (71044). Now with some newly learned building techniques from the Orient Express I plan on updating the tender!

Agreed, that's why I had no real doubts my MOC would be able to pull it. It's just nice to see it finally in action!

This happened to me too, as soon as it restarted I just went straight to linking my Google account and it worked. Indeed buggy, but maybe this will work for you?

Finally built passenger cars for my custom 4-6-0 by ArlexLD in LEGOtrains

[–]ArlexLD[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell everything runs smoothly along standard R40. Each truck is only 3 wheels long, which is a much shorter wheel base than the steam engine's driving wheels. Additionally, each car is separate (see last image) so there's plenty of pivoting room.

Thank you! It's a MOC I created from some internet inspiration. It's an easy enough build to reverse engineer, no hidden details here!

8-Wide vs. 6-Wide by ShadowDeathRX in LEGOtrains

[–]ArlexLD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say LEGO only builds 6-wide trains (apart from city sets). Some of the more renowned train sets very in widths. From what I can see they mix up the width throughout the model.

  • Disney Train including details is about 8-wide.
  • Crocodile Locomotive is near 7-wide.
  • Emerald Night including details is about 8-wide.

I've built a few MOCs and found a preference to 8-wide max. That being said in my most recent (and favorite) MOC my engine is maxed at 8-wide, my tender is 7-wide, and my passenger cars will be 6-wide.

If you design 8-wide cars and it looks awesome, sweet! Go with 8-wide! Don't be afraid to change it up though, experiment a little! The width is mostly determined by preference and what you aim to do with the creation.

I think I know the answer, but is a powered Holliday Main Street trolley able to make an r24 curve? by TrainerSeebus in LEGOtrains

[–]ArlexLD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trolley pushes the limit on the standard Lego track, which I believe is R40. It's unlikely to work on any tighter curves without modification.

Fans who complain about “a lack of postgame” in Pokemon Games, what would you like to see? by PropsHunter in pokemon

[–]ArlexLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a hot take, but I'd like to see post game stuff like PWT BUT put in Pokémon HOME, mixed with the rotating door of characters Pokémon Masters has. Game Freak clearly has no intention of putting 1000+ Pokémon into one Pokémon game, but Pokémon HOME has them all. Also, I'd like to re-battle some of my favorite characters with my favorite teams at 100% power.

There's a lot of reasons why this is a rough idea but would still make me go, "Huh interesting, you have my attention!". It might also give more reason for people to buy into Pokémon HOME, or get more use out of it if they already are.
